Experiencing FPS drops after performing a factory reset on my PC.

Hello everyone, I'm encountering a new issue that's impacting my gaming experience. After performing a factory reset on my PC, I've been experiencing low frame rates ranging from 60-80, which sometimes drop below 30 fps. Prior to the reset, my PC was capable of running games at 300+ fps with maximum graphics settings. Can anyone shed light on why this might be happening? Despite having integrated graphics, I face the same frame rate issues even when switching to the NVIDIA graphics card. Here are my system specifications:

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 1650

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics, 2.10 GHz

Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.3 GB usable)

Device ID: 66A6C7CC-C5E7-4240-89CB-AAFD8321B23E

Product ID: 00356-24576-07231-AAOEM

System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and Touch: No pen or touch input is available for this display

Hello, I brought hp envy x360 for school and It worked well until someone poured magnesium powder on my computer. I took it to the service center and they fixed it and did a factory reset. As my school resumed the fps dropped significantly and I was scrolling on word and it lagging. Even when I play my games in school (everyone does lol) i get 40- 50 fps and it drops to 20 fps. Before all that my games are getting 110 fps. My computer specs are Intel r graphics, 16 GB of Ram and I7 ultra. How can I fix it ... I tried what ever you said and it still didn't work

I can't find where it says to decompress and I tried the first step, it was a bit better but it was still laggy as hell.

You can try repairing the system. Maybe the factory reset broke some system files and made it work abnormally. There are 2 methods to repair the system:

    • Search for "Command Prompt" in the search bar, then right-click it and select "Run as administrator". After opening the command prompt, enter the following command:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The command above can help you download the necessary files for repair. Then, enter:

    sfc /scannow

This command scans for corrupted system files. You might need to wait a little bit longer at a certain stage (around 69%). This is normal. Please wait patiently for the scan to complete.

    • If the method above doesn't work, you can try the following method:

Download the Windows installation iso file first. Then, decompress the iso file. Open the folder from the decompressed files. You should see a setup.exe file. Open it. Follow the instructions to install Windows. There should be an option allowing you to keep your personal files and apps. That option is for repairing Windows, though it is very similar to reinstalling Windows, but it is not. However, I still recommend you to backup important files.

Here are the links to download Windows installation iso files:

    Windows 10:

Hello, I am Mite, an independent advisor and a user like you, here to offer help.

You can check whether the power mode is the best performance mode. To check this, you can go to Settings > System > Power & battery. Then, find the Power mode option. See whether the power mode option is "Best performance".

Also, if you are using a laptop, plug in the power when you are playing a game.

Reinstalling the graphics driver is something worth trying. However, the latest version of the driver is not always the best. You can try multiple versions and see which one is the best. Some people on the Internet have done some experiments about this. You can look for the report and get the best version of the driver.
