Hi Sumit,
If the problem couldn't be identified in the log files I'm not sure what else there is to try. What other steps were you thinking of?
Thanks,
Robin.

Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
When I try to install Virtual Machine Platform (via Turn Windows Features on or off), during the restart to finish install I go into automatic recovery, whereby the changes have to be undone in order to reboot.
win 11 pro x64, HP elitedesk 800 g5
fresh install of windows
latest bios and drivers
no conflicting virtual machine software
virtualization enabled in BIOS
tried secure boot on and off
'turn on virtualization based security' disabled in group policy editor
tried enabling hyper-v (same result - changes have to be undone on restart)
tried: bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto (won't restart unless I boot into safe mode and set it to off)
Can't think of anything else to try, grateful if anyone has any idea what the problem might be.
Thanks,
Robin.

Thanks, Robin. Would you be okay with more troubleshooting steps?
Thanks again for your reply. I'd actually already tried a fresh install of Windows via Windows update, recovery but tried your suggestion via downloading as well just on the off change there would be a difference but I'm still unable to turn on/install Virtual Machine Platform (or any other features relating to virtualization). Same result, windows removes the updates during reboot as they prevent Windows from starting.
Next steps would probably be a Windows install which removes all my apps and files or a complete pc reset, which I don't want to do at the moment. Or maybe try again if there's a new Windows release.
Anyway, will leave this for now. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Thanks, Robin. No real help in the CBS log as well.
Please try a repair install as the next step. It keeps everything, including apps and files, and reinstalls Windows.

I deleted the old logs so everything in the log relates to the following steps:
-installs, then requests restart
