My audio messages on Facebook Messenger have no sound

While it was working fine, today when I record a voice message in Messenger there is not sound when it is played back.

  • No sound for me
  • No sound for the other person
  • I can hear their messages, but they don't hear mine and I cannot hear mine either
  • It shows the wave but there is not sound even when played on the phone.

I tried:

  • Deleting cookies etc.
  • In setting mic is allowed for Facebook and Messenger.
  • I checked this:
  • Everything looks fine
  • I tried my Bluetooth Ear Buds microphone and nothing also
  • I restarted Chrome and windows
  • Nothing works...

Any ideas what happened and how to fox this?

    Hello Perry Gogas,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Microsoft Answers Community.

To better understand the problem, I want to ask a few questions:

    • Please launch the built-in sound recorder application, and select the microphone in the bottom-left. Can you record from the microphone, and can you hear the recorded files?

    Yes I can.

    • What is the brand and model of the microphone? How is it connected (built-in, 3.5 mm jacks, USB, or Bluetooth)?

I used both the laptop's built in mic and the external Bluetooth headset.

    • Please press Windows+R and enter "mmsys.cpl". Provide a screenshot showing the "Recording" tab.

    • Please right-click Start->Device manager. Expand the "Audio inputs and outputs", "Bluetooth", "Sound, video, and game controller", and "Other devices" section; provide a screenshot as well.

In the meantime, we would like you to provide us with some answers to the above questions first, so that we can provide you with a more accurate solution.

We look forward to your response.

Thanks a lot! the DroidCam Audio is probably from the DroidCam app that I installed recently to use my phone camera instead of the laptops.

    Best regards
