How do I create a desktop shortcut for a WindowsApp?

I mean, it's a simple thing and I've been struggling to do it for the last 30 minutes. 15 years software developer here.

App installed from Windows Store. Did not create any shortcut on the desktop.

I can find it in the start menu but I see no option to send a shortcut to the desktop.

I can't access the WindowsApps folder in Program Files - don't know why and at this point I'm not even interested.

If I need to mention, I have Windows 11.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    Open your Start Menu

At the top right of the Start Menu, click 'All' or 'Apps' to show the long alphabetical list of installed apps.

Scroll down to find WhatsApp, then drag its icon from the long list on the start menu onto your Desktop to create a new Desktop shortcut.

That process works for any app in Windows 11.
