[SOLVED] FlightSettings.dll causing application error events

Anonymous

I've been getting errors when trying to open a couple of applications. Some of these applications include

Settings (completely unopenable, instant crash)

Krita (recoverable, gives me an error and then when i launch it again it launches)

Spotify (recoverable)

Photos (completely unopenable, instant crash)

That I know of, no other applications are mainly affected by FlightSettings.dll but I have gone through using sfc /scannow and the dism online commands in command prompt administrator and as of nothing being found wrong, i haven't been sure as of where to go next which is why I came here.

It won't let me provide a screenshot of any sort so i will give the event viewer log. I would like to specify that when using some solutions on this thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/settings-in-win-11/d2803434-95d3-49dc-b7e9-de8414982aa5 I found that nothing worked for me.

I have the same issue, but I can't seem to find a way to replace the file. I have admin rights to the computer but when I try and replace the flightsettings.dll I get access denied...

This has been fixed. As simple as replacing the DLL with a stable version, believe that it's caused by the windows Dev channel release version of it. If anyone has this problem i downloaded it from https://www.dllme.com/dll/files/flightsettings/versions 64bit 10.0.26100.1882, as shown above the Dev channel version is 10.0.26100.2702. Also had an issue where I couldn't open anything from the start menu and ended up just restarting Windows Explorer from task manager and that also got fixed.

I also had the same problem but now it's fixed by

Changing the owner of this file by right clicking the file PROPERTIES-> SECURITY->ADVANCE->CHANGE OWNER to your administrator account and enable all the permissions.

Then try to replace the file with stable version.

If it is showing that the file is in use then:

-Use regsvr32 /u filename. dll to unregister the file.

-Use del /f filename. dll to delete the file

Then it will be deleted and paste the new file in it's place. The issue will be fixed.RESTART.

My all issues caused by this file have been fixed.
