Hi, good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

When was the last time it worked properly?

Please try to return to the login screen

While holding the Left Shift key, click the Power icon at the bottom right > Restart

This will bring you to Windows Recovery Environment

Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Uninstall Updates

    Uninstall latest quality update

If this doesn't work, Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore

Select the restore point at an earlier date where everything is still working.

    Click Next then Finish

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns by clicking the "Reply" button at the end of my response. I will appreciate it.

    Kind regards,

    John DeV

    Hello,

From the lock screen, press the power button onscreen and then while holding down the Shift key, press restart, and keep holding onto you see a screen that says "Please wait". Then, once you see a screen asking you to "Choose an option", press "Troubleshoot" then "Advanced options", then "Uninstall updates" then "Uninstall latest quality update".

Let Windows uninstall the update. This will take some time so do this when you aren't actively using it.

Let me know how this goes.

This is the fix. It has worked for 20+ of my users so far. Back your registry up first:

    • Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
    • Right-click the specific registry key you want to back up (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System)
    • Select “Export.”
    • Save the exported .reg file in a safe location (e.g., C:\Backup\SystemKeyBackup.reg)

Once it is backed up, modify the key as instructed below:

    1. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
    2. Locate the InactivityTimeoutSecs value.
    3. Either:
      • Delete it (right-click → Delete), or
      • Change its value to a higher decimal number (e.g., 900 for 15 minutes) or 0 to disable.
    4. Reboot for the change to take effect.
