Dear Nasos_H
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.
SafeNET INC Sentinel HL Key driver issues are usually related to the device's driver not being installed correctly, a version mismatch, or an operating system incompatibility.
This is a hardware dongle that is often used to license software or provide security features.
Below are the steps to resolve this issue:
Solution
1. Confirm the USB driver status
-Open “Device Manager” (Win + X > Device Manager).
-Check under “Other Devices” or “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” to see if there are uninstalled devices, which may have a yellow exclamation mark next to them.
If it is a SafeNet Sentinel HL Key, right-click on it and select “Properties > Details > Hardware ID” to verify that the device name is displayed correctly.
2.Download the latest version of the driver
The SafeNet driver is available on the official website and can be obtained by following the steps below:
- Go to the official driver download page: Thales Sentinel Driver Download www.thalesgroup.com
- Look for the latest version of the “Sentinel HASP/LDK Driver” (often referred to as the Sentinel HASP Runtime). Download it, install it, and follow the prompts.
- Download, install, and follow the prompts to complete the driver update.
3. Try to install the driver manually.
If the driver installation fails or does not match automatically, try updating manually:
-Right-click the device in the Device Manager and select “Update Driver”.
-Select “Browse My Computer for Drivers”.
-Locate the path to the directory where you downloaded the driver file.
-Follow the prompts to complete the manual installation of the driver.
4. Check Hardware and Software Compatibility
-Ensure that your operating system (e.g. Windows 10/11 or other versions) supports the SafeNET Sentinel HL Key driver.
-Make sure the USB port is working properly, try plugging it into another USB port for testing.
5.Test if the dongle is damaged
-If the problem is not solved after replacing the USB socket and installing the driver, you may need to test if the dongle is damaged.
-You can plug the device into another computer (and reinstall the driver) to check if it works properly on the other system.
Other Suggestions
If the above solutions do not work, you can contact SafeNet (currently owned by the Thales Group) technical support for further troubleshooting by providing the hardware serial number and driver installation error message.

If you can, please provide more details or screenshots of the error message so that I can further help investigate the issue.
