I was trying to hold off as long as possible but Microsoft FORCED the 24H2 update on me and I have have problem after problem after problem after problem after problem after problem and am VERY FRUSTRATED with Microsoft at the moment. I hate Mac and Lynix but it seems like Microsoft is trying VERY HARD to drive me away from their operating system / ecosphere. Microsoft.... when you role out a product will you PLEASE make sure it works before you FORCE ME to install it??????????
Windows 11 - 24H2 Update Performance Issues
I have attempted to install the 24H2 update on two different occasions roughly a month apart, but keep running into performance issues.
Upon installation, my entire device runs significantly slower than before. This includes both menus of the operating system and separate applications (lock screen, settings, web browser, video player, games, etc). This appears in the form of longer load times, and a decreased number of frames per second, to the point certain applications are unusable.
Each time I have checked for additional software updates, driver updates, application updates, etc. Additionally my resource usage in task manager is no different than prior to the update, so my only solution so far has been to rollback the updates.
Any sort of advice to help diagnose and potentially fix this issue would be appreciated.

2025-02-04T06:44:17+00:00 The only solution is 23h2 and to ignore 24h2. There is no fix and i highly doubt that MS cares enough to introduce a fix until 25h2. If only Bill Gates would take less money for himself, the company might have more capable programmers to always bring truely stable and bug free updates. I hope he enjoys his shrimp cocktails :)

2025-01-20T00:36:48+00:00 To provide some sort of an update, there have been reports of Microsoft forcefully releasing the 24H2 update to users, without giving them an option to decline.
This is obviously a problem given the amount of issues with the update, so I have been informed of one temporary solution to assist those currently still using 23H2. If using the Pro version of Windows 11, the device can be set to stay on a specified Windows Update version using the 'Group Policy' control panel. My plan is to remain on 23H2 until either a fix has been offered, or if all else fails update directly to 25H2 (assuming it releases some time before the end of lifetime for 23H2 in November).

2025-01-09T19:29:41+00:00 I have also noticed performance issues with 24H2 over the past month after it was applied (11/25/24). The system runs okay after each reboot but after general usage (work related, no gaming), it eventually slows down where application switching, typing, mouse movements slow down to a crawl. The system does function, but takes a long time to respond to a point that a restart is the only way to get it back to normal functioning. I've tried shutting down and restarting with no change in behavior.
I have noticed that using any screen shot capturing tool like the snipping tool or a third party screen capture tool seems to accelerate the slow down (so after I take a few screen shots, the slow down seems to occur within minutes). If no screen capture is taken, the system will eventually slow down after a few hours of use. I've disabled my any desktop background, using a solid black background, turning off items from the startup menu to no avail. I have run all available updaters including graphics card drivers (and uninstalling/reinstalling). The built in display is a higher resolution than most monitors at 3072x1920, which may contribute, but that could be a coincidence.
System Specs:
Dell Inspiron 7620 laptop
Intel i7-12700H 2.3 Ghz
64GB DDR5
1TB SSD
Intel Xe Graphics with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Just adding my info, in case anyone else is experiencing similar issues and found any type of solution other than constant restarting. Ran 22H2 and 23H2 with no performance issues. Just started happening after 24H2 was applied.

2025-03-02T19:48:06+00:00 My computer now is basically a turtle, files freeze when moving or accessing my server, anything sent out the computer via torrent or anything basically is on military time...hurry up and wait. External Docking station is not detected anymore, constant system errors, can't roll back to 23H2 without losing data because I cant make a system image to my NAS because of the transfer freezes. I am not doing a clean install without my image, to much stuff to loose and reinstall. Now I am forced to buy a 24TB drive install internally and hope I can image to that. Makes me want to look into going back to Linux Ubuntu, so frustrating when all my games and movie are mostly on my NAS and JBOD docking station. I have done numerous repair installs because of losing ethernet connectivity, windows search fails and desktop freezing.
