Need to clear rtc/ reset cmos every time i want to turn on my pc

Hi,

I recently built my own pc using my old psu , cpu and storage. It was working brilliantly until i turned it on one day and my monitors, keyboard and mouse didn’t connect. After a lot of trial and error i found out that the way i can get my monitors, keyboard and mouse to connect and have a display is through resetting cmos every time i want to turn on my computer. Even when it has power, it doesn’t turn on without a cmos reset. then i have to force boot through the bios to get a display and connection to my keyboard and mouse.

I would love to be able to fix this issue because it is not only inconvenient to constantly open my pc to reset cmos, but also concerning to my pc health. I’ve also downgraded to windows 10 hoping this would help but nothing has changed.

If any one has any clue as to how i can fix this please do get in touch. Thank you.

    Hello,

This is NOT a Windows issue, so downgrading to Win10 is not going to help unfortunately. Your computer is operating on the hardware and firmware first. At this stage, Windows is not even booting yet, so it is not a Windows issue.

It sounds like your issue is related to the CMOS or BIOS settings. Try replacing the CMOS battery, updating the BIOS, and resetting it to default settings. Ensure all components are properly seated, and check for power supply issues. If the issue persists, there may be a deeper hardware problem with the motherboard or other components and you will need support from the computer manufacturer, not from Windows.

    Here it is: https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/mo...

    Instruction is here: https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1008859/

Note: This is not Microsoft website/URL, but it is the official OEM/manufacturer site.

Know that BIOS is not a guarantee to fix this issue. If you run into issue during this process or if it still doesn't work, you need Asus's support. All of this is outside of Windows' scope.
