Hello archie oliver,
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
To change the installation drive for Microsoft Store apps (including games like Black Ops 6) and install them on a different drive (e.g., from C: to D:), follow these steps:
Step 1: Change Default Install Location in Windows Settings
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- In the Settings window, click on System.
- On the left panel, select Storage.
- Scroll down to the More storage settings section, and click on Change where new content is saved.
- Change the Install Location:
- Under the section New apps will save to, click on the drop-down menu and choose the desired drive (e.g., D:).
- Click Apply.
This will set your new default installation location for apps, including those from the Microsoft Store. Any new apps or games you install through the Microsoft Store should now be installed on the D: drive.
Step 2: Install Your Game (Black Ops 6) to the New Location
- Go to the Microsoft Store from your Start menu.
- Search for Black Ops 6 (or the desired game) and click on the game you want to install.
- Once you press Install, the game should now be downloaded and installed to your newly selected drive (D:), as per the setting you updated earlier.
Step 3: Move Existing Apps to the New Drive (If Necessary)
If the game has already started downloading to the C: drive and you want to move it to the D: drive, follow these steps:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Apps > Apps & Features.
- Scroll down to find the game you want to move (e.g., Black Ops 6).
- Move the Game:
- Click on the game and select Move.
- Choose your D: drive and click Move.
This option allows you to move existing apps and games between drives without needing to reinstall them.
Troubleshooting:
- If the "Move" or "Change location" options are grayed out, it could be due to the specific app's limitations or permissions set by the game itself. Not all apps allow moving to a different drive.
- Ensure your D: drive has enough free space for the game and that it's properly formatted as NTFS.
Following these steps should allow you to install or move your game to the D: drive. Let me know if you need further assistance!
