Trying to re-install AOL desktop gold. It stopped working after the new update. The option of going back to the previous version is no longer available after 10 days.

Is there another way to install AOL desktop gold? Microsoft is preventing the download.

Thank you very much for your reply. As far as I know, Microsoft does not prohibit users from installing applications because your computer is under your control. The prompt you mentioned is likely related to a specific setting. Please check the settings (open with Windows+I) -> Apps -> Advanced app settings, and confirm what the current option for getting apps is set to. If it is set to Microsoft Store only, this could be causing the issue. Please change it to 'any source' and see if that resolves the issue.

    Best Regards

    Good morning:

    Thank you for your reply.

I am trying to re-install AOL DESKTOP.

Approximately 14 days ago it quit working after the latest update. I left on vacation for 10+ days. The solution to re-install was to go to RECOVERY and go back to the previous version of Windows 10. This had to be done before 10 days. This option is no longer available.

I was able to download the app but when I try to install it I get the following message:

The app you're trying to install isn't a Microsoft-verified app.

There are two options: Browse Microsoft store - Install anyway.

I click on Install anyway but nothing happens.

AOL tech told me that Microsoft is preventing me to install the app.

Settings from Microsoft need to be changed to give me permission to install.
