On all Windows 11 machines at my work h,c and v dont work sometimes.

Basically if you hit the windows key and have the search menu pop up and then click off of it h, c and v no longer work when typing. This only happens on windows 11 machines its not the keyboard as I even tried it on a keyboard test site and it detects that h, c and v are being pressed it just doesn't actually type them out. The current "fix" is to just tap the windows key twice if the h, c and v stop working but I want to know if there's a more permanent fix.

Has anyone found a fix for this? Have the same issue in Office 2019.

Windows 11 got pushed out to our systems by accident and coincidentally right after we upgraded a major application. We started to notice this issue and everyone blamed the upgrade. Took us 3 months to replicate the issue on other applications outside of our call center and across the organization.

Windows 11 got us chasing ghost for months. can someone find a permanent fix for this issue so critical call center people don't lose their mind.

Now that we've begun deploying Windows 11 throughout the organization, we're seeing this pop up as well. I did see other posts dating back to 2012 for these symptoms, but we never really encountered it until we starting using Win 11, and so far those are the only clients that have experienced it here. It doesn't matter whether it's a physical keyboard or virtual (even through remote sessions), and seems limited to only certain apps (primarily Outlook). Similar to the other comments, we are not utilizing any other language settings. Double-tapping the Windows key does seem to temporarily fix the issue, but like the OP we would really prefer to have a permanent fix for this, given how often it's happening.

I also found the same thing and fix. While I don't have a permanent fix maybe this will help us find the root cause.

There is this article from 2012 outlining almost the same thing, except it mentions the Windows IME. However as I'm sure in your instance, we are not utilizing any language settings. The issue also only seems to impact the application that was in focus when the windows key was hit, whether it be a word doc, email, notepad, etc. I did notice one application that had additional keys fail and that was Webex messaging program, in that one, the backspace key and a few others failed as well. In all of these situations the fix you mentioned of hitting windows key twice fixes it, or closing/opening the impacted application.

So it appears this issue, or one similar has been going on for years now, and the root cause could be associated with the Windows IME software? I'm not a computer expert by any means, so I could be off. Just wanted to share what I found as well.

    Hi Patrick,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

If all have the same issue, check to see if a common app or tool is installed on them that prevents the keyboard from functioning properly.

Then, perform a clean boot and disable non-Microsoft services:

After checking to see if the issue persists, if it's fixed, repeat the procedure to re-enable services one by one until finding the faulty one.

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.
