Hello, Deborah Beale
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
Thank you for your feedback. The issue sounds like it's because after you connect the K66 microphone, Streamyard switches the audio output device to the microphone device by default instead of your computer's speakers. Here are some troubleshooting options:
- Check Streamyard's audio settings
Open Streamyard and go to your live or recording room.
Click on Settings in the upper right corner and go to the Audio section.
Make sure your computer's speakers are selected in the “Output” option, rather than the default microphone. If you don't see a speaker option here, try re-plugging your K66 microphone or restarting Streamyard.
- Adjust Windows audio settings
On Windows 10, click the volume icon in the bottom right corner of the taskbar, right-click, and select “Playback Devices.”
In the Playback devices list, make sure you select Speakers (not Microphone). If Speakers is already selected, try right-clicking on it and selecting “Set as default device”.
Sometimes the K66 microphone is recognized by Windows as an audio input and output device (especially since some USB microphones offer this option), causing the audio output to be forced to switch to the microphone device. Make sure your speakers are set as the default audio output device.
- Check Device Manager
Check your audio device settings in Device Manager. Right-click on the Start menu and select “Device Manager”.
Expand “Sound, Video, and Game Controllers” and then check to see if both your speaker and microphone devices are working properly. If there's a problem with the microphone driver, it may affect the audio output.
Try right-clicking on the microphone device and selecting Uninstall Device, then restart your computer and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
- Check Streamyard compatibility with your browser
If you are accessing Streamyard through a browser, try switching to a different browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) to see if there is different audio output behavior. Sometimes the browser's audio settings may be different from the operating system's settings, causing the output device to be incorrectly selected.
- Use a virtual audio device
If none of the above methods work, you can try to use some virtual audio routing tools, such as VoiceMeeter or VB-Audio. these tools can help you to separate the microphone input from the speaker output, avoiding one device occupying two roles (input and output).
After downloading and installing VoiceMeeter, you can set up virtual audio devices and select these virtual devices as input and output devices in Streamyard instead of selecting microphone or speaker directly.

- Check for other peripheral devices
If you have other external audio devices (e.g. USB audio interface, Bluetooth speakers, etc.), make sure that their settings do not conflict with the K66 microphone. In some cases, when multiple audio devices are connected at the same time, the system may select one of them as the audio input and output by default.
If the problem persists, you may need to contact Streamyard's technical support to see if the problem is with the platform itself.
I look forward to your feedback, which will help me pinpoint your issue.
Best Regards,
