BitLocker Recovery screen every time I boot up my computer. No option to turn BitLocker off in the Control Panel

Hello. I've been experiencing this problem for several days in a row now, though it was an infrequent problem in the past.

I'm on a WIndows 11 laptop.

Every time my laptop restarts or shuts off I'm met with a system message (in a similar style to how a bios screen might look) asking me how I'd like to recover my computer and describes a lot of acronyms I don't understand with my only options being Yes or No. I've tried both options and they both take me to BitLocker.

It was annoying the first time, frustrating the second, and then tonight was infuriating due to it restarting my PC every time I finished entering my recovery key, saying something to the effect of "Something went wrong in your recovery, so the system will restart."

I've seen another post on here that directed a user to turn off BitLocker in the Control Panel. However the only option I have under Device Encryption is to "Backup Recovery Key."

I'm unsure what to do to prevent this from continuing to happen every time I boot up my system.

I have the same issue every time my new computer (bought in December 2024) gets an update. Should I take the computer back to BestBuy? Its a Lenovo Thinkpad. I need to know my computer is going to function and not having to take all this time to log in. Its annoying and I am not happy with the

just "turning off the encryption" option. I didn't pay all the money for the laptop to have to "work around" an error.

    Hello Luxandr,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

I am sorry that you are experiencing the issue. Suspending BitLocker could be a potential solution. Based on the issue description, it appears there may be operating system file corruption or problems with your Boot menu, possibly triggered by another program. You can try disabling the BitLocker recovery key prompt first, which appears during each restart or startup first, and see if this resolves the issue.

    a. Open Command Prompt as Administrator, type or paste the command below and click enter:

Manage-bde -protectors -delete C: -type TPM

Once completed, type or paste the next command below and click enter:

    Manage-bde -protectors -add C: -tpm

    • Once finished, restart your computer and see if it fixes the issue.

I tried most of them and didn’t work on my end, I tried the regedit strategy in recovery but the thing is my C: Drive didn’t show, instead my Boot X drive showed which is weird. And the thing is I can’t even reset my pc because it doesn’t show in the troubleshoot options, including the startup settings, it doesn’t even have that as well! And now everytime I startup my pc, The big locker recovery keeps showing up. I’ve put the key many times and my pin is still locked.

I experience a similar problem when I had secure boot off in my bios. When I turned it on, the problem went away.
