    Hello, PR767

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand that your computer is showing “Shutting down service: Windows Module Installer” and that this process has been going on for some time. This service is responsible for installing, modifying, and removing Windows updates and components, which can sometimes take a long time. Here are some troubleshooting options:

    1. Wait for the service to finish

Sometimes, the easiest way is to wait patiently for the service to complete its operations. However, if the waiting time is too long, you can try the following steps to solve the problem manually.

    1. Restart your computer

Restarting your computer can help to unblock the service stall:

Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to force the computer to shut down.

Wait a few seconds and then press the power button to restart the computer.

Note: Forced shutdown may result in loss of unsaved data, make sure there are no important operations or data unsaved in the background.

    1. Try in-place upgrade

This will refresh your windows and will not delete your data, but for important data, it is still recommended that you backup.

How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

If none of the above methods work, we recommend you to use USB installation media to install windows freshly. before doing this, please backup your important data.

Reinstall or clean install Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

I hope my explanation makes sense and I look forward to your feedback.

    Happy new year!!

    Best Regards,
