Hi starbassfishing,
I'm and Independent Advisor and I'm happy to help you.
It is not safe to use third-party tools that modify the registry or delete sensitive folders as they might break your system, but I can give you some personal performance recommendations.
For cleanup, you can:
- Use the built-in tool by doing "Windows + R" and typing "cleanmgr".
- Use the Storage Sense feature built in Windows by going to Settings > System > Storage.
- Manually remove (caution!) folders that you are confident you dont need at these locations:
C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local
C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming
C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\LocalLow
C:\ProgramData
Even in Program Files folder could be uninstalled programs lefover folders.
- Also, check in Task Manager the section "Startup" and deactivate unnecesary startups.
If you want to remove programs you don't use, always do so by uninstalling from Control Panel, so the uninstaller can clean everything related.
There's actually no additional locations in which leftover files are stored, so you can clean it pretty completely. As for the registry, leftovers do not affect your PC performance and take almost no space, so it is smart to leave it as-is.
Please, let me know if this helps!!
