Hello, Alexandre Lima-Karim
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
Thank you for your feedback. Based on your hardware configuration and specific symptoms, the problem could be in multiple areas. Here are some troubleshooting options:
- Driver issues
Rust is a very graphically demanding game, and outdated or unstable graphics drivers may cause your computer to freeze and restart.
Update Graphics Driver: Make sure your NVIDIA graphics driver is up-to-date, you can visit the official NVIDIA website to download the latest driver.
Update Chipset Driver: Visit ASUS official website to download and update the chipset driver for your motherboard.
- Temperature and Hardware Monitoring
Your computer may overheat while running Rust, causing system instability.
Check CPU and GPU temperature: You can download and use monitoring software (e.g. HWMonitor, MSI Afterburner, etc.) to check the temperature when running Rust. If the temperature is too high, consider cleaning the heatsink and reapplying heat-conductive silicone grease, or check if the fan is working properly.
- Game and Software Conflicts
Certain background programs or software conflicts may cause the game to crash.
Clean boot: Hold down Win + R to open the Run dialog box, type msconfig and enter. Enter the “System Configuration” window, check “Hide all Microsoft services” in the “Services” tab, and then click “Disable all”. Disable”. Next, go to the “Startup” tab, open Task Manager and disable all startup items. Try running Rust again after restarting your computer to see if the problem is resolved.
Disclaimer: Clean boot is a process of starting Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if background programs are interfering with your games or programs and to help you figure out the cause of the problem. “The steps of Clean Boot may seem complicated at first glance, but to avoid any trouble, follow them in order, step by step, and it will help you get back on track.
- Memory issues
Memory issues can be another potential cause.
Run the Memory Diagnostic Tool: Press Win + R, type in mdsched.exe and enter, select “Restart now and check for problems”.
- Check the disk
Disk problems can also cause system instability.
Use the chkdsk utility to check the disk: open a command prompt (with administrator privileges), type the following command and enter:
chkdsk /f /r
Disclaimer: Run chkdsk to check the file system and file system metadata of a volume for logical errors and physical errors. To avoid causing unnecessary trouble, please follow the above steps step by step and do not interrupt or cancel during the run, and make a backup of important data.
If the problem persists, it is recommended to document all attempted steps and error messages and seek help from a professional hardware technician or contact Rust official support for further diagnosis and resolution.
I look forward to your feedback.
