Hi Microsoft,

My mouse cursor keeps jumping to the top right corner of my screen as I work, and as a result, I keep closing all of my windows. Its very frustrating.

I've read other forums and tried everything I can find online. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/my-mouse-pointer-keeps-jumping-to-the-top-right/466da94b-4532-439b-a330-78514c62b5b2 I've updated and downloaded new drivers for display and mouse. I've reverted to old drivers.

I've reset my computer both preserving my info and and a total factory reset. I read that this would reinstall Windows.

Manufacturer : Lenovo

Model : 83DM

OS : Windows 11 Home

Nothing seems to be working. Please help.

Thanks in advance,

Deb

Mine was doing the same and a person informed me to go to device manager, go to Human Interface Devices then to compliant pen and right click and disable the pen. My mouse has worked perfectly ever since! Can't believe Microsoft, Geek Squad and Lenovo didn't know this.

Go to Device Manager, Human Interface Interactions, right click on the compliant pen and disable it. Your mouse will work fine.

Not a hardware issue. I am having a similar issue on two separate computers using two different brands/models of mouse. One is a laptop with a touchpad and one is a desktop with no touchpad. Mouse keeps bugging out, slowing down, and then bouncing around with increased frequency over the past 2 weeks. I have replaced the batteries/charged both mouses and even tried plugging in one mouse, which is wireless with a wired option. issue persisted.

    Hello,Deborah Abrams

Welcome to posting in the Microsoft Community.

Based on your description that the mouse pointer keeps jumping to the upper right corner of the screen, we can initially determine that this problem is more likely to be caused by a hardware issue rather than a software issue. This is because you have tried a variety of software-level solutions, such as updating and rolling back the driver, resetting the system (including retaining data and fully restoring factory settings), but the problem still exists, which basically rules out the possibility of the operating system or driver.

Analyzing from a hardware perspective, common causes of abnormal mouse pointer jumping include interference from the touchscreen or touchpad, problems with external devices (such as a mouse), or false touch signals in the motherboard circuitry. I recommend that you can visit a professional computer repair store to have it checked, but before that, you can also follow the steps below to perform a self-test.

    1. Touchscreen interference

If your Lenovo laptop is equipped with a touchscreen, it is possible that the touchscreen hardware is generating a false-touch signal instead of detecting an obvious touch action. This signal usually manifests itself as an automatic mouse pointer jump that frequently focuses on certain locations (e.g., the upper right corner of the screen).

    • You can temporarily disable the touchscreen function to confirm whether the problem is related to the touchscreen. Press Windows+X and select Device Manager. Under “Human Interface Devices”, find the touch screen device (usually called HID-compliant touch screen), right click on it and select “Disable Device”. If the mouse pointer returns to normal after disabling, you can be sure that the touch screen is the cause.
    1. Touchpad Interference

The laptop's touchpad can also be the cause of the problem. If the touchpad has a hardware fault, dust buildup or false touch signals, it can also cause the mouse pointer to jump abnormally to a fixed position. Touchpad failures are relatively common among hardware problems.

    • To disable the touchpad function, go to “Settings” > “Devices” > “Touchpad” and turn off the touchpad switch. If the problem is solved after the switch is turned off, it may be a hardware problem of the touchpad. If the problem is solved after turning it off, it may be a hardware problem of the touchpad.

If the problem persists after disabling the touch screen and touchpad, and also disconnecting the mouse, you may need to consider other hardware failures, such as abnormal signals on the motherboard, which is usually more complicated, and it is recommended to go to a professional computer repair store for further inspection and repair.

I hope the above can provide you with some ideas, if you have any other questions please let me know, thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

    Best Regards,
