I have same issue on my laptop (asus zenbook ux363j). Bitloker screen appeared and it is asking for a key which has neber been set. Now, it seems like microsoft blocked me access to my data and I will lost lot of my money, my time and my reputation if I don"t recover the data :(
Asked for bitlocker recovery key when key is never created.
I just bought a new Lenovo laptop window home 11. After 2 weeks, the computer was updated and now it wants BitLocker recovery key. Tried manage-bde to check the status. The key password is empty. The computer is not link to Microsoft account. When BitLocker turned on, it should let me know to save the key. It seems that there is no key created but BitLocker asked for that and I cannot log in the computer now.

2024-10-20T11:25:26+00:00 We have the exact same issue here, just now, my wife's laptop just showed up with the bitlocker recovery screen.
She isn't into computers at all and hasn't changed anything, never turned on or off bitlocker or added anything new to the computer, didn't upstate to win 11 or anything.
Computer is bricked and the recovery links provided just tells her account that there are no related recovery keys. Hurray.

2024-08-16T17:20:18+00:00 2 issues. I set up my HP Laptop using my GMAIL and it is not there (it is not on Any of my emails). Also on my laptop it is not turned on BUT it shows bitlocker V2 on the C; and PROTECTION OFF - I need to make sure it never turns on!! Since I never created the key. I need to ensure that BITLOCKER **NEVER** TURNS ON. How dare Microsoft essentially STEAL OUR DATA?!!
Also a colleague called about his DELL (personal) he NEVER SET IT UP - DAMN MICROSOFT TO HELL - I read that Dell does not turn it on but microsoft does it automatically - so we have NO idea how to find the key it is NOT in his account. HELP
People everywhere are getting harmed by Microsoft abusing us.
I also turn off automatic updates on my other computer but WINDOWS MODULE INSTALLER WORKER constantly takes over my disk and CPU and I cannot rename or stop TRUSTEDINSTALLER or KILL the Damn WINDOWS MODULE INSTALLER!

2024-03-25T08:55:47+00:00 Your only option is a clean install to delete the encrypted drive.
Windows 11 Home will apply Device encryption during initial setup but doesn't tell you, as you have seen. Personally I think it's a failure from both the manufacturer and Microsoft. (just my opinion)
Device encryption uses BitLocker so that is why it asked for the recovery key. It is not full BitLocker as in Pro edition.
When you clean install it will happen again. You can turn it off once you have finished the installation but at this point you will lose all files on the internal drive.
You have checked the account you used during setup for the recovery key:

2024-03-25T09:08:13+00:00 Greetings, Kim! My name is Arif, and I will assist you today.
I'm sorry to inform you that if there wasn't any Microsoft account signed in to your computer and you're certain about it, and you also don't have the Bitlocker key, it will be challenging to regain access to your PC. In such a situation, the best course of action might be to reinstall Windows on your computer. However, please be aware that reinstalling Windows may result in the loss of your files. Once you've set up a fresh copy of Windows, you'll need to sign in with a Microsoft account on your computer. Additionally, if possible, it's advisable to back up your Bitlocker key to prevent similar issues in the future.
