I've been having the exact same issue with my Asus Zenbook for nearly 10 days, but I also have no sound from internal speakers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, searched endless pages on the internet and even went so far as to completely uninstall and reinstall a fresh version of Windows 11. Updated BIOS, etc. NOTHING HAS WORKED! I finally got a Bluetooth headset to work, but only the audio, it won't recognize my headset's mic. My entire Dolby Atmos system also will not work.

The Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED listed under System Devices in Device Manager had a yellow warning triangle next to it. Everything I have found on the internet says that there is a known incompatibility between this device and Windows 11 going back years. No amount of updating or trying to disable / enable has solved the problem. I renamed the driver file so the startup process couldn't locate the driver and reinstall it, but that only gave me temporary sound - and still no mic!

I'm pretty sure at some point I had a Realtek sound driver, not an Intel driver, but I honestly can't be sure, and trying to locate 2 year old Realtek drivers to see if that works is proving to be another nightmare on top of the one I am already living through. I have spent DAYS on this with no solution. And also submitted a ticket to Microsoft.

Beyond frustrated by the lack of support and solutions to this known issue.

    Hi

    Thank you for your reply.

    I’ve tried all your suggestions.

There is no restore point before 30/12/24. I’ve downloaded up to date drivers and microphone still says ‘No input devices found’.

Do you have any other ideas.

    Many thanks

    Sue

    susan,

If your Microphone is still not detected, choose an old driver and see if it helps.

    1. Open the Device Manager and expand the arrow next to Sound, video and game controllers.
    2. Right-click and select Update Drivers > Browse my computer for drivers> Let me Pick drivers available drivers > Choose an old driver and use it.

    Method 2.

    • If that didn't work, Go to Start > Settings > System > Recovery.

    • Select "Fix Problems using Windows Update" - Select Re-install now.

    • Once completed, see if your Audio input device is being detected.

    Method 3.

    Perform a repair upgrade process.

    1. Download the Windows 11 .ISO file from the link below. (3rd option)

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    1. Once the file is downloaded, open the file and double-click the setup.exe to begin the Windows Setup. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

This method will upgrade your PC to the latest version of Windows 11 without affecting your Personal files, apps or even applications.

Let me know if you still need more help.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N

    a. Click the Windows + R key, type rstrui.exe and click OK.
    b. Click Next and select the date/time you would like to restore your computer. (before Christmas)
    c. Click Next > Finish to complete the restoration.
    d. Test your Microphone after this process.

    Method 2.Re-install Audio drivers.

    a. Open Device Manager.

    b. Select the arrow next to sound video and game controllers.

    c. Right-click your generic audio driver (usually Realtek (R)), select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.
    d. Once uninstalled, restart your PC.
[Windows will automatically re-install the drivers for your PC].
    e. Open the Windows Sound recorder and test your Microphone.

Method 3. Download and install the Audio drivers from your PC Manufacturer's website.

    a. Go to the Asus drivers and download website - https://www.asus.com/in/support/download-center/
