Using Canon Pixma MP190 Printer With Windows 11

Greetings... I just purchased and set up a Dell All-In-One computer running Windows 11. This replaces an older laptop I had that was running Windows 10 and beginning to fail, so I took the hint and got my information off of it and then upgraded. I'm surprised however that my printer doesn't seem to work with my new all-in-one running Windows 11. I went to Canon and found that the Pixma MP190 has been retired, okay fine, but they don't even seem to allow you to download the drivers anymore. I'd rather not get rid of a printer/scanner/copier, an all-in-one itself, that's working just fine and is just old. I'd rather not unnecessarily create the e-waste by having to replace it. I've done some searching and elsewhere in the Windows Community have read that the Pixma class is largely not compatible with Windows 11. I'm wondering how accurate this is? I'll by a new printer if I have to as they're cheap, but it's an unexpected surprise and expense...

    Hello, scorsone

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I noticed on Canon's official website that this model is listed as discontinued, but they still offer drivers and software downloads for Windows 11.

I can't guarantee the results, but you can give it a try.

If that doesn't work, you could consider installing VirtualBox or VMware in Windows 11, create a Windows XP/7 virtual machine and use the printer normally within the virtual machine by transferring files via shared folders. This solution preserves all functionalities.

If the printer's performance is still poor within the virtual machine, I recommend choosing a model that supports AirPrint/IPP Everywhere. These types of printers don't require dedicated drivers and can work cross-platform, avoiding potential risks from future system upgrades.
