Touchpad Not Working on IdeaPad Gaming 3-15IHU6 (Type 82K1) - Resource Conflict Issue

System Information

  • Model: IdeaPad Gaming 3-15IHU6
  • Type: 82K1
  • OS: Windows 11

Issue Description

My touchpad has completely stopped working. I've tried multiple solutions over the past few weeks, but they only provide temporary fixes that last for a few hours or days before failing again.

Error Details

In Device Manager, the I2C HID Device shows a yellow exclamation mark with the following error:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Additionally, the system logs show this message:

Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service cykbfltrService for Device Instance ID ACPI\MSFT0001\1 with the following status: 0.

Steps I've Already Tried

  1. Enabling/Disabling the Driver – Worked temporarily for a few hours but stopped again.
  2. BIOS Update – Fixed the issue for 2-3 days, but the problem returned.
  3. Uninstalling Drivers in the Universal Bus Section – Followed a YouTube guide for the same model, but it only worked briefly.
  4. Installing Drivers from Driver Identifier – Made the issue worse; touchpad settings disappeared from Windows Settings.

Current Status

  • Touchpad is completely non-functional.
  • Touchpad settings no longer appear in Windows Settings.
  • I2C HID Device shows a Code 12 resource conflict error.
  • The device appears to be located on Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - ADE8.

Screenshots

I have attached screenshots of:

  1. Universal Serial Bus controllers in Device Manager.
  2. I2C HID Device Properties window showing the Code 12 resource conflict error.

    Hi, thanks for your reply!

    Here’s what I did:
First, I reset my BIOS to default settings. Then, I uninstalled both the I2C HID Device and Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller. After restarting my laptop, the touchpad started working again.

However, it stopped working once, but after repeating the same steps, it worked again—so it seems like a temporary fix.

Also, just to clarify, my touchpad stopped working before I updated or clicked "Get Latest Update." I only did that afterward, and I believe I already have the latest BIOS version.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions!

Win11 by default only installs critical security updates, unless you made the mistake of selecting “Get latest updates” which includes drivers.

See your laptop/PC makers support to update both bios and ALL drivers.

There should be a shortcut to that makers update utility on your system.

Then set Bios to defaults & Pwr to balanced. At the end of the day shutdown, do not leave in sleep.

Do NOT update from any other source inc Device Manager

You only need to set the Advanced options for notify & Time

In your case its Lenovo Vantage update
