So I need help with using my laptop as a monitor for my PC.I have watched a few YouTube videos but I did it like NETVN82 did. I did everything I was instructed to do. Except when he says to turn on my desktop I did exactly that but nothing happened. I used OBS and it stayed with the colour stripes. And I have a HDMI video capture like the one he used. By the way I'm on Windows 11.

    Hello,

NETVN82 has over 900 videos on YouTube, so I have no idea which one you referred to in order to review what you did.

What connection are you using to make the laptop monitor? Is the laptop serving as the only monitor or second monitor?

Here is the problem - video ports on a laptop are typically for video output only, not for video input. So I don't think it is possible to use it via a wired connection between computer and laptop.

However, depending on your hardware, your laptop can serve as a wireless display monitor, but in order to set it up, you need to be able to see, hence if the laptop is used as the only monitor, you will not be able to set this up as you cannot see where you are going.

I actually meant Windows Settings, not OBS Settings.

Here is a screenshot. I went into the settings down right but there was no Privacy tab.

Does the video capture card show up in OBS under video capture device?

You might have to give it permission via Settings > Privacy > Camera.

If that still doesn't work, I would strongly recommend that you ask in the OBS forum instead, because this is very OBS product specific question: https://obsproject.com/forum/#obs-studio-support.3

Thank you for the reply! Well if you can't find the video just search in your browser "How to use laptop as a pc monitor". It should pop up but if not type NETVN82 with that sentence. I'm sure you will see the device he uses. I have the same one. I'm using an HDMI capture device that uses a USB port since my HDMI port on my laptop is only output. It's serving as a only monitor.
