Endless Loop: Authenicator Signed Out-Need Authenicator to Sign In

I purchased a new phone and Microsoft Authenicator is now signed out.

When I try to sign in, after entering my business email and PW it asks for an Authenicator Code (Why?). I do not have option to sign in another way. I guess I did not set it up so it doesn't offer to me.

When I call the Microsoft number they won't talk to me without a case number. I can't sign in by business account to create a case because it again asks me for an authenicator code.

I created a new microsoft account to submit a case they asked for a support plan. The least costly option if $499. I am a one person business/retired so that doesn't make sense.

I about ready to cancel my Office 365 account if this can't get resolved right away. I tried **** but they were of no help.

Please help.

In that case, I'll re-route you to our Accounts support as they might provide a better solution. Thank you and have a great day.

    Dear Otto Rainer

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

This issue is due to multiple authentication being added to your current enterprise account.

You can contact your organization's IT administrator, MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) for enterprise accounts is usually controlled by the organization's administrator. Even if you are retired, if the enterprise still exists, the administrator can:

Temporarily disable your MFA in the Azure AD backend , turn off multiple authentication and let him log in using only his password.

Re-bind Microsoft Authenticator on your phone after login.

    If you are an administrator:

Sign in to the Azure AD management backend with an Emergency Access Account (Break Glass Account), but pre-configure this account in advance.

    Best Wish

I really appreciate your offer to help. The problem is that I can't log into my business account because it only gives me the option of entering an authenicator code which I don't have access to. I am able to join this forum because I created a brand new account.

Hello! My name is Renzo, I'm an independent advisor and a long-time Microsoft user. Let's work together and sort this out.

It seems like you have enabled the two factor authenticator on your Microsoft account. You can try to check if you can have it disabled through your Microsoft Account on the web. Go to account.microsoft.com then follow the steps below.

To disable two-factor authentication on your Microsoft account, you can:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account
    2. Go to your Advanced security options
    3. Select Additional security
    4. Select Two-step verification
    5. Select Turn off
    6. Follow the instructions on the screen
    7. Expand the verification option and select Remove
    8. Select Remove again to confirm

You can also access the Additional security verification page by:

    1. Signing into the Microsoft 365 portal office.microsoft.com
    2. Selecting your avatar in the top right
    3. Selecting View account
    4. Under Security info selecting Update info

Let me know if this works. Thank you.
