This just suddenly started to appear. I have no idea why, but I hate the "clutter" and want to get rid of it. Please advise. There are some videos on Bing that describe the process, but they talk so fast that I cannot hope to follow step-by-step. Please help!

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

The keyboard layout indication (ENG US) only shows when there is more than 1 keyboard layout available. Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region > remove additional languages. If there isn't any other language than English (United States), select the three dots on the language and remove additional keyboard layouts under "Keyboards"

Since Windows is always being changed, I often find instructions outdated. I didn't find "Keyboards." What I did find after clicking typing: > advanced keyboard settings > switching input methods > language bar options > hidden. Then it went away. Not exactly the same route, but the same result. Thanks much for your help.

    Regards, Grandpa
