Battery shows 100% but indicator light is blinking orange when pugged in.

Hello!

I have the following problem: My ASUS Laptop tells me the battery is fully charged (100%) and it also recognizes that the charger is plugged in, but the indicator light is blinking orange. The laptop is plugged in the whole time. As soon as I unplug the charger, the laptop immediately shuts down, like it does when it's at 0%. I can't turn on the laptop, unless it is plugged in.

Here's what I have tried so far:

  • update Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery (by uninstalling it and restarting my device)
  • trying to do a BIOS reset (by turning the device off, unplugging it, holding the power button for 40 seconds, but nothing happened)
  • I checked the battery health by running command prompt powercfg /batteryreport. It shows 37,130 mWh of design capacity and 26,062 mWh of full charge capacity as of yesterday.

What could be the problem?

What could be the solution ?

Hi Prakash! I'm John, a fellow Microsoft user like you.

I understand your frustration. Based on what you’ve described, it sounds like the battery isn’t actually holding a charge, even though Windows is reporting it as 100%.

If your ASUS laptop shows a 100% battery charge on the screen but the indicator light is blinking orange while plugged in, it usually means that the battery itself is faulty and might need to be replaced.

The full charge capacity (26,062 mWh) is noticeably lower than the design capacity (37,130 mWh), which indicates wear. However, since the laptop shuts down immediately when unplugged, it might mean the battery is no longer functioning correctly at all.

Have you already reached out to ASUS support about this? They might have specific troubleshooting steps or warranty options available.

Or should you need further information please let me know.
