Hello KLS2025
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
It sounds like you're trying to install Google Chrome or Google services on your Windows laptop after switching out of S Mode, but are encountering issues. Let’s troubleshoot step by step:
- Confirm You’ve Successfully Exited S Mode
- Go to Settings > System > About.
- Under Windows Specifications, check if it says “Windows 10/11 in S Mode” (if it does, you’re still in S Mode).
- If you see Windows 10/11 Home/Pro, you’ve exited S Mode. If not: Open Microsoft Store, search for "Switch out of S Mode," and follow prompts to disable it.
- Install Google Chrome Correctly
- If out of S Mode, you should be able to install apps from outside the Microsoft Store:
- Go to Google Chrome’s official site. Disclaimer: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate and safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.
- Download and run the installer.
- If blocked, check your browser’s downloads or look for a security prompt allowing the installation.
- User Account Permissions
- Ensure you’re logged in as an administrator. Standard users may need admin approval to install software.
- Antivirus/Security Software
- Temporarily disable third-party antivirus/firewall software (e.g., Norton, McAfee) that might block installations.
- Corrupted Installer or Browser Issues
- Clear your browser cache or try downloading Chrome using a different browser.
- Ensure the installer isn’t corrupted (redownload it).
- System Updates
- Update Windows:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Install pending updates and restart your laptop.
- Reset Microsoft Store (If Using Store Apps)
- If trying to install Google apps from the Microsoft Store:
- Reset the Store via Settings > Apps > Microsoft Store > Advanced Options > Reset.
- Still Stuck?
- Reinstall Windows: Backup data and use the Windows Recovery option (Settings > Recovery > Reset this PC).
Let me know if you need further clarification!
