Thank you for the detailed information you have provided! Based on your description, the nozzles on the Epson L3250 printhead are likely to be clogged or misaligned, especially since the problem repeats every 6 lines (indicating a pattern consistent with clogged nozzles).

I don't know if your Epson L3250 has a display, as I once had an Epson printer that had a touch screen that you could push buttons on, and Epson has built-in functions like deep cleaning, preliminary cleaning, etc. that automatically clean the printer nozzles when pressed.

But I will give you some suggestions in Windows that I hope will help you without problems.

    1. Perform advanced printhead cleaning.
    1. Open Windows Settings (Win+i) -> Bluetooth and Devices -> Printers and Scanners.
    2. Select your Epson L3250 -> Click  Printing Preferences.
    3. Go to the “Maintenance” tab -> Select “Head Cleaning”.

Select "Color ‘ and ’Black ” for cleaning respectively (repeat for both).

    1. After cleaning, print the Nozzle Check Pattern:

On the same Maintenance tab -> click Nozzle Check.

If the test page still shows gaps/missing lines, continue with Step 2.

    1. Manual printhead alignment

    Clogged printheads can cause misalignment:

    1. On the Maintenance tab -> select Printhead Alignment.
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to align the printheads using the printed alignment page.
    1. Deep cleaning (if basic cleaning fails)

Please note: This consumes more ink. Use only 2-3 times if necessary.

    1. On the Maintenance tab -> Deep Clean -> Run Color and Black.
    2. Wait 30 minutes after cleaning (to allow ink flow to stabilize) -> Print another nozzle check.
    1. Verification of ink and driver settings
    1. Ink quality check:

Even though OEM inks are being used, make sure the ink cartridges are not expired (check the date on the cartridge label).

Gently shake the cartridge horizontally to redistribute the ink (avoid hard shaking).

    1. Reinstall the Driver:

Uninstall the current driver via Settings -> Printers and Scanners -> Delete Device.

Download the latest driver from the Epson L3250 Support page -> Reinstall.

    1. Physical check (last resort)

    If the software step fails:

    1. Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water (do not use alcohol).
    2. Open the printer cover -> Locate the printhead (refer to your Epson manual for instructions).
    3. Gently wipe the printhead's metal contacts and nozzles. Do not touch the circuit board!
    4. Restart the printer and retest.

    If all steps fail

Persistent blocking may indicate some of the following important problems:

    (1) Hardware failure (e.g., damaged print head).

    (2) Clogged ink passages (requires professional repair).

Contact Epson Support directly for repair options, as physical repair is beyond the scope of troubleshooting. Mention the error pattern (“repeat every 6 lines”) to speed up diagnosis.

Please note: Print head cleaning consumes ink. If the problem persists after 3 cleanings, avoid further attempts to avoid wasting ink.

I sincerely hope that the above information will help you!

    Arthur,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Here are the responses to your questions:

    1. Personal printer hooked directly to my laptop
    2. Epson L3250
    3. The test page shows badly blurred and missing lines of print consistently every 6 lines
    4. Consistent quality issues on all document types
    5. The ink tanks are all full with Epson OEM ink
    6. Windows 11 version 24H2  (OS Build 26100.3194)

I think the 1^st^ reason you suggest as the problem is the most obvious cause of the issues.

Is there any suggestion on how to “clean” the printer heads?

    Thanks again, Dave Michou

    Hi David Michou

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I understand that you want to know how to adjust your printer so that the fonts in your documents are clear and consistent, and I understand your feelings very well!

The problem of unclear and inconsistent printing from the printer may be due to some of the following reasons.

    1. clogged inkjet printer printheads/uneven laser printer toner
    2. Driver not properly configured (resolution set too low)
    3. Mismatch between paper type and actual paper used
    4. Insufficient or expired ink cartridges/toner remaining
    5. the system default print quality is set to “Draft” mode
    6. Conflicting print settings within the application program itself

    etc.

As there is less information in the first reply, please allow me to ask you some questions to be able to get a better understanding of your situation.

    1. What is your printer type? (e.g. wired printer, Bluetooth printer, network printer, etc.)

Please note: If you are a network printer device, there are corresponding forums and boards, as well as corresponding experts to provide you with more targeted advice and programs.

    1. Please ask your printer brand model (such as HP LaserJet Pro M404dn) is what?
    2. What is the specific performance of unclear printing (text edge burrs / overall blurring / local loss)?
    3. Is it particularly obvious when printing PDF files? Or that all types of document printing have this problem?
    4. whether the recent replacement of ink cartridges / toner?
    5. What is the specific version of Windows you are currently using?

Click the “WIN key” to open the search bar -> enter “winver” and open the

After receiving your reply, I will be able to understand your situation better and give you some targeted advice or direct you to the right department to deal with your problem.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Best Regards
