The only way I can get into my computer is with the password, which works fine.

Literally the cursor does not reflect the entry of any numbers in the PIN entry box.

    Dear redleafvt

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

If the PIN entry box in Windows 11 is not picking up numbers and the cursor is not responding, but your password works fine, this is usually caused by a system configuration issue, a corrupted PIN file, or some input-related setting.

Here are the complete steps to fix the problem:

    Check your keyboard input settings

Sometimes keyboard problems can interfere with proper PIN entry:

Make sure the Num Lock key is turned on:

If you are using a numeric keypad, check that the Num Lock is activated (there is usually a corresponding indicator light). Use FN+Number Lock to unlock it.

Verify the keyboard input method settings:

Press Win + Space to switch the input method.

Make sure the default input method is English (e.g. “ENG International Keyboard”).

    Troubleshoot hardware issues:

If it is an external keyboard, try to replace the keyboard or switch to on-screen keyboard input.

Enable on-screen keyboard to enter PIN

Use the on-screen keyboard to attempt to enter a PIN:

    1. On the login screen, tap the Accessibility icon (the little man icon) in the lower right corner.
    2. Select On-Screen Keyboard.
    3. Use your mouse to click on the number keys on the on-screen keyboard to try to enter your PIN.

If the On-Screen Keyboard does not work either, continue with the following steps.

    Delete and reset the PIN

A PIN that cannot be entered is usually due to a corrupt configuration file. You can try removing and reconfiguring the PIN.

Method 1: Remove PIN and Reset

After entering the system, follow the steps below to remove the old PIN and reset it.

    1. Open Settings:

Open Settings: o Press Win + I or open Settings from the Start menu.

    1. Go to Accounts > Login Options.
    2. Locate the PIN (Windows Hello) and click Remove. o If you are unable to remove the PIN, check that it has been removed.

If you are unable to remove the PIN, check that you have entered the password correctly. o You may be asked to verify your login password.

You may be asked to verify your login password to remove the PIN.

    1. After deleting, reboot the system and reset the PIN. o Go to Settings > Accounts > Login Options:

Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options > PIN (Windows Hello) and click Set. o Follow the prompts to set a new PIN.

Follow the prompts to set a new PIN.

    Manually Deleting a PIN Profile

If the Windows Settings page does not delete the PIN file properly, you can manually clear the file and regenerate the PIN configuration.

    Steps:

Press Win + R to bring up the Run window, type in the following path and enter:

    C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc

If the system shows that access is denied:

Right-click on the folder and select Properties > Security > Edit > Add.

Enter your user name, click Check Name, and then click OK and grant Full Control permissions.

    1. Delete the contents of the folder and clear the old PIN information.
    2. Restart the computer and the system will ask to reset the PIN.

Go to Settings > Accounts > Login Options and reset the PIN.

    Best Wish
