Hello,Azzad Aziz
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
Thank you for your feedback. I have carefully read the information and problem description you provided.
I understand that this problem is frustrating for you. The problem you encounter when configuring the fingerprint scanner on the HP Probook G10 may be due to multiple factors, including driver problems, incorrect settings configuration, or hardware failure. I can't give a precise reason, but I suggest that you try the following methods to step through the error, which may help you.
Method 1. Check and update the fingerprint scanner driver
Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Expand "Biometric Devices" or "Fingerprint Devices".
If the device is not found, expand "Other Devices" or check for unidentified devices.
Right-click the fingerprint scanner device and select "Update Driver".
Select "Search automatically for updated driver software".
If no updated driver is found, visit the HP official website to download and install the latest driver according to your notebook model.
Method 2. Remove the fingerprint scanning function
Press Win + I to open "Settings".
Select "Apps" > "Apps and features".
On the Apps and Features page on the right, click Optional Features.
On the Optional Features page, scroll down and find the feature called Windows Hello Face (Windows Hello includes facial and fingerprint recognition by default).
Select the feature, then click Uninstall and follow the prompts to complete the removal.
After restarting the computer, complete the addition again.
Method 3. Check if the Windows Biometric Service is running
Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box, type services.msc and press Enter.
Scroll to find Windows Biometric Service.
Make sure the service is running and the startup type is Automatic.
If the service is already running, right-click and select Restart.
Method 4. Open your browser, visit HP Support Assistant | HP® Support, run the software update and troubleshooting function to ensure that all drivers and firmware are up to date.
