This is not helpful. We do not have audio drivers. Update the system so that we can have them again!
Windows 11 update removed Realtek driver AND device
Recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. After the install, the Realtek Audio driver AND the device were gone. Rrror "no audio device installed" It's not hidden, I looked.
I need to install the software for the device before I can install the driver. PLEASE, I would be most grateful for any help.

2025-01-30T21:24:05+00:00 Thank you for your prompt reply.
If I install an earlier version of Windows 11, it will immediately update the system, and install the offending update. Seems to me the issue has been caused by Microsoft, so it's Microsoft's responsibility to fix it. I will keep the version I have and wait for the fix I'm confident Microsoft will supply. Right now, I suspect there are probably quite a few very annoyed users.
As a proper long term fix, I have connected a sound bar by Bluetooth. (had to buy a dongle, and install a driver) So, the installed Realtek speakers have become redundant. I still want the issue fixed because I want to sell this PC later this year.
I am just about to reinstall Windows 10 on another partition. With any luck, one of the OS will operate at any one time.
Regards

2025-02-04T20:59:13+00:00 The Microsoft team have told me this is a problem caused by the last Windows 11 update. That means there should be a patch out soon.
It was suggested that I install an earlier version of Windows 11. That would mean not allowing that last big update to be installed. That's not good enough as a work around. This kind of fault should have been picked up with System testing, in my opinion.
There is a simple work around; buy a cable with a USB connection at one end and a connection for external speakers or headphones at the other end. Less than $10 at a good techie store. That will give you sound.

2025-01-30T13:51:55+00:00 Hi Customer, Welcome to Microsoft Community. Thanks for posting your inquiry about the audio device issue.
This link points to the device manufacturer's custom drivers specific to your model motherboard.

According to information from some other threads that mentioned audio device issues, some audio issues may be related to the system version. Windows 11 24H2 (OS build 26100.2894) updated the driver block list file. If your device is running a same or higher version of the system, a compatibility conflict may be a potential cause.
If your device retains the Windows.old directory, you can try to return to the previous version and try again with another relatively early build date of Windows 11.
