Hello,

when i’m trying to launch Fortnite a System Error will appear.

It says: The code execution cannot proceed because DSOUND.dll failed to load. Verifying game files may fix this problem.

I really tried everything, including verifying the game files, reinstalling Fortnite, scanning for issues and watching every single video on youtube about it.

But nothing helps, please help me.

    Hi, janbue22

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We know that when you start Fortnite, you will get a system error, DSOUND.dl, which is usually related to DirectX or audio driver. You can try the following schemes: I. Reinstall DirectXUsually, DSOUND.dll files are part of DirectX, and reinstalling DirectX may solve this problem.**I. Download DirectX installer:**Go to Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Official Microsoft Download CenterDownload and run the DirectX end-user runtime Web installer, and follow the prompts.2. install DirectX:After downloading, run the installer and update or reinstall DirectX. II. Repair or re-register system files Sometimes re-registering DLL files can solve the problem.1. Use the command prompt to repair system files:Press Win+X, and select Command Prompt (Administrator) or Windows PowerShell (Administrator).Enter the following command and press Enter:sfc /scannowThis will scan and attempt to repair the corrupted system files.2. Manually register the DSOUND.dll file:In the same administrator command line window, Enter the following command and press Enter:regsvr32 DSOUND.dllThis will re-register DSOUND.dll. III. Update or reinstall the audio driver

    1. Update the audio driver:Open device manager (press Win+X, and then select device manager).Expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.Right-click on your audio device and select "Update Driver".Select Automatically Search for Updated Drivers.2. Reinstall the audio driver:If the updated driver doesn't work, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the audio driver.Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall Device.Restart the computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the audio driver. IV. repair or reinstall Fortnite Now that you have tried to verify the game files and reinstall the game, but the problem remains, you can try the following additional steps:1. Delete the game configuration file:Sometimes configuration files may be damaged, and deleting them can force the game to recreate them.Go to the following folder:C:\Users\Yourusername\ appdata\local\fortnitename\saved\config\Delete all files in this folder.2. Run Fortnite as an administrator:Right-click the shortcut of Fortnite and select "Properties".In the Compatibility tab, check the "Run this program as an administrator" option.Click OK and try to run the game again. V.Update Windows completely Make sure your Windows system is up to date, because system updates sometimes fix such problems.1. Check for updates:Press Win+I to open the settings.Select Update and Security.Click Check for Updates, and then download and install all available updates. VI. Install the missing DLL file If DSOUND.dll is really missing, you can download the file from a trusted source and manually place it in the system folder.1. Download DSOUND.dll:Go to a trusted DLL download site and download only from well-known sources.Download the DSOUND.dll file (make sure it is suitable for your system version: 32-bit or 64-bit).2. Place DSOUND.dll:Copy the downloaded DSOUND.dll file to the following directory:64-bit system: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Then, re-register the DSOUND.dll file according to the above method. If you still have problems after implementing all the above schemes, it is recommended to contact the official support team of the game or further check whether there are potential problems in the system and hardware.
