My PC keeps completely freezing and I am unable to do anything but hold the power button down to shut down the PC and then start it back up.

Hello,

I have been having this issue for a bit now and I cannot seem to figure out what the issue is. I have a gaming PC and for a few months now it has been freezing randomly for me.. It will just randomly freeze without any sort of warning (it most happens when I am gaming but has happened when I am not for example in the desktop out of nowhere) and after it freezes I can't do anything.. the pc fans and everything seems to be working just fine just like they were before the freeze, but once the pc freezes up all I can do is just shut it off with the power button and turn it back on..

I've seen a post with this issue before here, but can't fully figure out how to check what's wrong myself, I've done a FULL clean windows install, updated all my drivers, updated my windows and etc, checked my ram with utilities, my gpu, my cpu, yet it still happens..

Past 12 hours events (don't know if I did it right)

I'm hoping a moderator or a person might help me out on this one.. cause it's really stressful that my 1000$ PC crashes during the most random times..

PC SPECS: RX 6700XT i5-12400F 32GB RAM (6000MHZ), and the pc is pretty much brand new, it's like 5 months old-ish..

    Try checking if there's any critical or errors logged in the event viewer. To check the Event Viewer on Windows 11 after a freeze.

    1. Open the Event Viewer by pressing Windows key + R
    2. Type in eventvwr in the Run dialog
    3. Then navigate to Windows Logs > System in the left pane; look for recent events marked as "Critical" or "Error" around the time of the freeze to identify potential causes of the system crash.
    4. Click on the Event marked as "Critical" or "Error" and send us a screenshot that contains the source. Or if you are able to determine what caused this, you'll know if it needs repair or replacement right away.

    You can try to run a Hardware Diagnostic from the BIOS. Press Enter or F12 depending on your motherboard's default key to boot into BIOS during Start up. Then look for a Diagnostic or Hardware Diagnostic button. It will run a series of test for your hardware if any of those are causing issues. You can choose whether it's Unattended or Attended, Full Scan or Quick Scan. I suggest you do the Full Scan, this might take hours. After it scan, it will show up any part that did not pass the test and you can start checking the hardware from there.

    Thank you for those information and it confirmed that this is a hardware issue. These errors would only show up if the computer was forcefully shut down (pressing power button until it shuts down). I would suggest for an in-place repair to make sure that your operating system is working fine. If this doesn't make any difference, you need to have your computer checked by a local computer store.

    Hello, thank you for reaching out to me so fast. Here's some screenshots of what Errors I got during that time. All 4 are the same by the way. I don't exactly recall the time it happened but this might be it (cause it's around the time it happened) I will try and send you another screenshot when it will happen.. It might take a day or two to happen tho, but if it's possible i'd like to reply then aswell. but maybe this is all you need :)

If your computer is freezing randomly without any noticeable logs in the Event Viewer, it likely indicates a hardware issue, such as a failing hard drive, overheating components, or faulty RAM, as these problems might not always generate clear error messages in the event logs. Based on your query, you've done everything that you can in fixing it if it's a software issue and you did great. We suggest visiting the shop where you purchased the PC for possible warranty check.
