Error 0x803F700F

Hello. Suddenly I received a Windows activation message. I went to my user account settings and saw an activation error with code 0x803F700F.

I went to my Microsoft account and saw there 2 copies of the same device with different device names (current and an older one before some of the Windows reinstalls I guess), so i removed one of them and left only the most recent one.

Then I went to Activation troubleshooter, then clicked "I changed hardware on this device recently" (even I didn't, my activation was working flawlessly until today since 2016 i guess), selected the only device I had on my account and... nothing.

Then I went back to my Microsoft account and now I had 2 copies of the same device, so I decided to remove both of them with hope that somehow it will refresh and my device will sync and appear.

Now I am stuck without any device on my Microsoft Account and with an infinite activation error message :(

Please help me

Hi, Adrian

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are experiencing problems with Windows 10 activation and according to your description, the error code 0x803F7001 means that a valid license could not be found to activate Windows on your computer.  I noticed that you have already tried the "I recently changed the hardware on this device" method to remove the old device but it still doesn't work, you can then refer to the solution in this link: Fix Windows 10 activation error 0x803F7001 - Microsoft SupportIf the above steps still do not resolve the activation issue, as Windows activation issues involve your account information, which may not be handled directly in the public Microsoft Community, it is recommended that you contact Microsoft Online Support via Chat for live help with Windows 10 activation:Contact - Microsoft Support1. Type "Windows Activation" and click Get Help.2. Click Sign In and Contact Support at the bottom of the page.3. Sign in with your Microsoft account.4. Under Products and Services, select the Windows 10 or 11 option.5. Under Categories, select Manage Profile Information. 6. Click Chat with a Support Agent. Thank you for your understanding and hope your issue can be resolved successfully!

Best Regards

I think we all are having the same problem and that Microsoft hasn't fixed this is appalling.

I don't have the option to chat with support agent. I provide a phone number for a support agent to call me, but then I see in the history that an agent is assigned and the issue is resolved without anyone calling me. I tried several times and now it says I need to wait 24 hours...

    I've also faced this problem.

Additionally, my activation has recuringly gone dead on me due to vendor open firmware updates for security related issues.

Every time one is applied Windows is deactivated. I just re-bought windows 11 pro 2 months ago, and now I can't use it again.

I'm honestly at my wits end and am going all in on Linux.

I too have faced this issue. Microsoft's support has been utterly inadequate. Despite numerous requests for assistance, my tickets have been closed without any resolution or follow-up. This problem is affecting my connected hardware, rendering essential Windows settings inaccessible and hindering my ability to prevent software conflicts.

Microsoft, I urge you to address this widespread issue. After countless calls and hours spent in phone queues, I was informed by a contact center representative that no further assistance could be provided. I was advised to reinstall Windows 10 and then upgrade to Windows 11, as all troubleshooting methods have been exhausted. It is unacceptable that BIOS updates, which are standard for most motherboard manufacturers, can disrupt the licensing process. Furthermore, directing us to purchase another license from the store is not a solution—it feels like theft.
