That is great news, I am glad this is resolved, great troubleshooting.
My phone is not showing on This PC when attached via cable
I have been transferring photos and managing files on my Samsung Galaxy phone from my Windows 10 desktop for years, but just since the last Windows 10 update, my phone is charging via cable but is not appearing on This PC in Windows Explorer. This always worked automatically with every phone I've used, and has been working with this phone until now.
Allow this PC to access your mobile devices is turned ON.
Manage Mobile Devices shows my phone as enabled. I think that's related to some thing about viewing my photos on the PC via Phone Link, which I set up to see if that would be useful, but I can only work with one photo at a time. I want to copy the 200 photos I took today to my PC. I want to see my phone's file system like I could before the update. Anyway, that does show me the photos I took today, so it's connecting; it's just not bringing the file system into Windows Explorer like it used to do.
I hope there is some easy thing that will make this work again.

2024-12-04T09:29:06+00:00 Dave, thank you for the reply. I did the first part. But I wasn't able to figure out where to find USB connection settings on my phone.
Or I think I did the first part. But now, under mobile
when I go back to to the Autoplay settings, the third option, for the Galaxy device, is missing. I have to turn on wifi and add a new connection, and now when I go back to Devices, Autoplay it shows that did set the option for the phone to open File Explorer. So it keeps that setting. That's good.
But even with the device connected, it's not showing in File Explorer.
So it looks like I have to permit it from the phone, but I can't figure out where. I have Auto Blocker off under Security. I tried turning off "Block USB connections while locked". That made no difference. In the past, when the phone isn't on, it doesn't show when I have it attached via cable. I like that. When I turn on the phone, it pops up in File Explorer. Except not now. I even tried changing to my usual charging cable, that I know works. Made no difference.

Connect your phone to your PC.
Open the Settings app, then go to Devices - Autoplay
In those settings, select the option to open File Explorer when you connect your phone.
Disconnect your phone from the PC, then re-connect it to your PC, then on the phone, set the USB connection settings to either File Transfer or MTP
You should then be able to see your phone in File Explorer.
