2025-02-15T10:31:39+00:00 I have followed all the steps you provided, but there is no difference, and the installation keeps failing. It’s showing an 'internal system error occurred.' The actual problem is that there is no sound in my GTA 5. I searched about it on YouTube, and most people say to delete the x3daudio and Xaudio DLL files and then reinstall DirectX. But when I went to delete the DLL files, my system didn't have those DLL files. Also, earlier, GTA 5 wasn't launching due to a missing d3d compiler DLL, but I solved that by downloading the DLL from dll-files.com. However, the audio error is still not fixed. And also, the method you mentioned about deleting the old DLL and downloading a new one didn’t work either. It said in the DX logs that a newer version of the DLL was already installed, and then the installation failed. Then, after I deleted the d3dx9_24 DLL and tried again, the DX log showed this:02/15/25 15:57:06: infinst: Installing C:\Users\nawab\AppData\Local\Temp\DXDF0F.tmp\d3dx9_24_x64.inf [DefaultInstall]
02/15/25 15:57:06: infinst: Installed file C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3dx9_24.dll
Can you suggest something else, please? And by the way, don’t suggest resetting my PC, as I won’t be able to do that.

2025-02-15T03:25:56+00:00 Hello Arnav Pandey
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
The error occurs because the DirectX installer detects that the file d3dx9_24.dll is already present on your system, but there might be an issue with the installation process or the file itself. Here's how to resolve this and get GTA 5 running:
Step-by-Step Solution:
- Install the Latest DirectX Runtime
- The June 2010 redistributable is outdated. GTA 5 requires newer DirectX components.
- Download the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Microsoft’s official site:
Microsoft DirectX Download. - This will update missing/corrupted DirectX 9.0c files (including newer D3DX libraries) without conflicting with existing files.
- Use GTA 5’s Built-In Installer
- GTA 5 includes DirectX dependencies in its installation folder. Navigate to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\Installers (adjust path if you use a different platform). - Run DXSetup.exe or Social-Club-Setup.exe to install the correct DirectX and dependencies.
- GTA 5 includes DirectX dependencies in its installation folder. Navigate to:
- Run DirectX Installer as Administrator
- Right-click the DirectX installer > Run as administrator to bypass permission issues.
- Repair Corrupted Files
- Use System File Checker (SFC) to fix system file issues:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Run the following commands one by one:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth - Run sfc /scannow and wait for the process to complete. Check if there are any detected errors.
- Use System File Checker (SFC) to fix system file issues:
- Update Windows:
- Ensure Windows is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates.
- Manual DLL Replacement (Last Resort)
- If d3dx9_24.dll is corrupted:
- Download the file from a trusted source.
- Replace C:\Windows\System32\d3dx9_24.dll (backup the original first).
- Warning: Avoid untrusted DLL sites; they may contain malware.
- If d3dx9_24.dll is corrupted:
- Reinstall GTA 5
- If the issue persists, reinstall the game to ensure all dependencies are properly configured.
