The chat icon on taskbar can be hidden or shown using settings. I wish to disable it in such a manner that no one (kids) can re-enable even from settings

Since microsoft has never ever listened to any feature suggestions, what choice do I have other than to switch to a different OS? This isn't a one-time thing, eventually when one has a number of issues their cumulative weight suggests that there aren't any developers working on debugging Windows anymore. How can you have things like chat prominently advertised on the OS without parental lock features. And by the way, isn't it an antitrust violation because of software bundling?

    Dear HS_911,

    Thanks for your reply

I can understand that you don't want to see the chat feature at all and want to remove it completely, but this is an underlying feature that Microsoft has set up by default, so even if you try everything, you still can't remove this feature, Microsoft designed it so that the only way to do it is to turn it off or on.

    Best regards

    Dear user,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I understand your request to disable or hide the chat icon in the taskbar. However, after attempting to use the Group Policy Editor and the Registry Editor, it was not possible to achieve your requirement. This might be a feature that cannot be implemented. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards
