Zenbook Duo Screen Not Detecting

Hi, I own a ASUS zenbook duo ux8406, with the detachable keyboard and second screen. My second screen has randomly stopped being automatically detected and seems to be turned off even when I detach my keyboard, however the touchscreen functionality of the second screen still seems to be working as a trackpad of sorts for my main display. Any chance I accidentally turned on a function for the second screen to become a trackpad? I have updated all display drivers, ran multiple diagnostics through MyASUS, and have gone through a hard restart.

I do myself have the same problem; this happened after the latest Microsoft Windows and possibly some ASUS products updates. The second screen cannot be enabled at all (in my case), although there seems to have an inactive monitor (sometimes) in the Windows settings (or in Intel Graphics).

Unfortunately, the reply to the same question of Nishil Patel2 given by Raylan.S - MSFT does not work in my case: not even rolling back by uninstalling the latest update by Microsoft Windows. Somehow Windows cannot enable the second screen!

I hope and want to believe that the situation will be resolved soon either by Microsoft or by ASUS soon.

    Hi Nishil Patel2.

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

One of the screens of your dual-screen laptop does not display any information and can be used to control your other screen. You mentioned in your question that this problem occurs randomly when it occurs. Does it also recover randomly after it occurs? Or has it remained like this since it occurred?

If the problem does not recover after it occurs, then the idea you raised, "Is it possible that I accidentally turned on the function of the second screen and made it a trackpad?" I think it is very likely that you accidentally changed some settings.

I looked up the manual of your laptop. The default key for changing the display mode of your laptop is "Fn + F7". Try using this shortcut to see if there is any change in your current laptop. In addition to this, your computer should come with the software "ScreenXpert". Using it to adjust the display mode of your laptop screen may also help the current situation.

In addition, since many devices of your laptop are connected via Bluetooth, please make sure that these devices are fully charged.

If these problems have occurred recently, then this may be incompatible with Windows updates. You can uninstall the update package in the following way and use wushowhide.diagcab to prevent the update from appearing in the list.

    1. Press "win + i" to open the settings.
    2. Go to "System" - "Windows Update" - "Update History" - "Uninstall Updates" in sequence.
    3. In this interface, you can find the latest Windows updates and uninstall them.

Restart your computer. If your computer returns to normal at this time, you can hide Windows updates by following the steps below:

    1. Download wushowhide.diagcab from the following website: http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab
    2. Open this program, click Next, and select "hide updates".
    3. Here, you can find the updates that cause problems, check them, and click Next. Now the update package you selected will no longer be pushed to you.

    Best Regards,
