Big Fish Games issue with Windows 11 ARM/64

I have searched and searched the internet and cannot find what I feel is a very simple question.

Will Big Fish Game Manager and their games work on Windows 11 ARM under emulation on a Mac Silicon M4?

Also, but not as important: I'm wondering if there is any planned or ongoing development effort to improve backward compatibility of the Windows ARM emulated environment. Specifically, I'm looking to play games from Big Fish on this platform. I'm also trying to find out if this compatibility will improve in the future.

The answeres are not easy to find.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

I don't mind, I'm not sure what exactly solved it in the end, because I did try a bunch of things at the same time so I'll recount that this did take me several tries before working seemingly, for no reason. but in the end, I think this is what worked for me

installing big fish is the first step. Once that's installed, I did go to security and made sure that it was one of the apps allowed through the fire wall (you can find this by going to privacy and settings or Opening widows security)

After installation, go to the file location (I had moved my big fish to a separate folder to make life easier for myself) and make sure the game manager is highlighted, (not big fish Game manager specific game manager). And open up properties

When you hit properties, there should be a little menu and you should be able to go to Compatibility (I find that the troubleshooter did not help me any) from there, it seems pretty straightforward. (I decided to run mine off of windows 8 but I know it also does work if you run off Windows Vista)

The next thing I went to is change emulation settings i selected hide X64 emulation, capability (x86 apps only) i also hit used advanced settings for my exact settings there is a picture.

I then opened Big Fish Manager logged in and proceeded to download using purchase history (I did not use the browser for this I do not think that will work. I did try in the past. I did have issues with one particular game, but that seems to be unrelated.)

Let me know if this helped you

this was a result of me getting annoyed and trying to brute force this because my computer is new and covered under warranty. I had no problem with trying every single method I could

I have a Surface Pro 11 tablet running Windows 11 Arm.

I am having the same issues of you. I always get the access violation when opening the game manager, and when I try to install a game.

I have contacted BFG and they sent me a link to their most recent manager. Same issue. They did say they want to have it be able to run on all operating systems. I sent them some screen prints. We'll see if I have better luck with support than you did.

Big Fish may not officially support running their Game Manager or games on Windows ARM under emulation on a Mac, so troubleshooting may be or is really limited in this scenario. This error is often related to memory allocation, which are more likely to happen in virtual environments like Windows ARM on Mac. Trying different combinations of settings like adjusting CPU/RAM, and graphics and see if it helps out.

I have set up Windows ARM on my Mac. It runs very well, but will not allow Game Manager from Big Fish to run.

There is not a lot of information about trying this, perhaps I am the only one.

I have tried Big Fish games support and they are useless. They have not (or will not) answer if GM will work on Windows ARM. There is obviously a problem as Game Manager seems to be having issues loading properly. The window always opens wrong and has to be resized. So, it could be just something with the graphics emulation.

I have attached what I get when I try to run Game Manger. If Game Manager will not run, none of the games will run.

Good day, thanks for your question. Kindly refer to the below with regards to this.

    > Windows 11 ARM on Mac

    • To run Windows 11 on it, you would need to use an ARM version of Windows through a virtual machine (VM) like Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion. Windows 11 ARM includes x86/x64 emulation to run traditional Windows programs, which is needed for Big Fish Game Manager and games.

    > Emulation Compatibility

    • Big Fish Game Manager itself is not very demanding, but the performance of individual games may vary depending on how they are optimized.

    > DirectX and GPU Compatibility

    • Majority of Big Fish games rely on DirectX for graphics, and this can be another challenge under emulation. Virtualization tools like Parallels Desktop now have support for DirectX 11, but performance is often slower compared to running natively on an x86 PC, especially with 3D or graphically intense games.

    > Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion

    • If you’re using Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion, these programs do a decent job of emulating x86/x64 applications on Windows ARM. Parallels has optimized support for Windows ARM on Apple Silicon but not every game will work smoothly as expected.

    > Potential Issues

    • Possible ag or slow performance in certain games, especially if they are 3D or require more advanced graphics.
    • Possible compatibility issues with some games not launching or crashing due to emulation-related limitations.
    • Possibility that Game Manager installation or updates could face challenges under emulation.

You can also send a feedback with regards to compatibility or improvements via the link below.
