Hello, community! You're probably also afraid of someone breaking in to your PC, and you're not the only one. Whenever I close my laptop and try to log back in, it didn't require my password. I had to do it manually my locking it on the start menu, but is there a way to automatically lock my computer when I close my laptop?

Thanks for the reply.

This ensures that your laptop asks for a password when you open the lid:

  1. Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  2. Scroll down to If you’ve been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?
  3. Select Every time from the dropdown menu.

Now, your PC will require a password every time you open the lid.

Please let me know it this works!

    Hello ,

I’m here to help you in resolving your issue

Yes! You can make your computer automatically lock when you close the lid by adjusting your power settings.

    Change Power Settings

1: Press Win + R, type control panel, and hit Enter.

2: Go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options.

3: Click Choose what closing the lid does on the left panel.

4: Under When I close the lid, set it to Sleep or Hibernate instead of "Do nothing."

    5: Click Save changes.

Since Windows locks automatically when sleeping or hibernating, this will ensure it locks when you close the lid.

After trying above steps, please reach out to me if you have any doubts or issues

    Hello, Siva.

Thanks for the tips. The problem is that hibernation takes long for it to boot up. And even if I set it to sleep, it doesn't completely lock my laptop.

Are there some other ways to lock it automatically when closing the lid?
