How to get photos from phone to windows 11 via USB, without phone link

I plug in my phone to my Windows 11 laptop via USB, and tell it to allow transfering data. Yet, the device is not visible in file explorer. I had to install a program called phone link, and it is very cumbersome to use, and has security problems (requires access to my ms account, exposes my phone to that account).

How to transfer files with file explorer only?

This worked in Windows 10, now it is broken.

Hello, my name is Anis. I'll be glad to help you today.

Android: To move photos from your phone to a Windows 11 PC using a USB cable, start by connecting your phone to the PC. On your phone, choose "File Transfer" or "Transfer files" from the USB options. Then, go to the file explorer of your PC, open the Phone's directory and go to Camera > DCIM folder.

iPhone: To transfer photos from your iPhone to a Windows 11 PC via USB, connect your iPhone to your computer, open File Explorer, navigate to your iPhone's "DCIM" folder, and then drag and drop the desired photos to a folder on your computer.

You can also try Wireless options like iCloud Photos for iPhone.

For Android, the options are Phone Link, Intel Unison, Glide (Asus) etc.
