Part II Mlicrosoft Project (MSP)

SCENARIO: January of 2024 Mr. Engera were assigned as the new project manager for a

Prototype Development project was to start the first working day of Feb 2024. The following table

represents the task resource information that has been put together by the former project manager,

who has just left the company. After going through her records, this is all you can find in the

project file of any value, other than a preliminary MS Project file. The normal working times at

your company is 6 days a week, 7 hours a day. The company does not require its staff to work

on weekends. In addition the company holds its annual retreat from Feb 21st to the 23rd during

which time its oftices are closed and all of its employees are expected to attend an offsite facility

where various conferences, employee morale and team building activities are done.

company does not pay extra for overtime. These are the only staff available; all the others have already

been assigned to more important projects.

You have been asked to enter dependencies and assign staff for the activities on a one page Gantt

chart, showing the earliest possible completion date. Your boss, who prides herself on being

sensitive to her staffs family obligations, asks that you review the workload for all staff assigned

to this project. She asks that you perform resource leveling to ensure that no one has to work more

than 7 hours a day, no one works weekends, and no one works on or between Feb 2Ist to the 23rd.

She insists that your Gantt chart printout show the total duration and the total cost of the project

using a Project Summary Task. She also wants to see the resource names next to the timeline bars

on the right side of the chart.

File Setup:

1. Start the MS Project and create a new project file.
2. Using Project Information enter the start date of the project as Feb Ist, 2024.
3. Save the file using the combination of your name and ID number
