Since Windows 11 24H2 update everything runs slow and takes longer to load

Ever since this update, my system takes a long time before it's fully up to speed. I'm talking 10 minutes or more. Even the opening screen where I enter my PIN takes longer to come up. After entering the pin, it takes a while for the app icons to show on the desktop and even then the taskbar arrives later. I can't get Outlook or Chrome to launch right away. It can take minutes for them to load and be responsive.

Even after the system is functioning more normally, it is still slower than before the update. Emails take a few seconds longer to open up. Files take longer to open. Chrome tabs take longer to show.

I've checked Task Manager. My CPU is at less than 10% and my RAM at 59% with apps open. Hard disk doesn't show a lot of activity. I've looked at processes and don't see anything that's consuming a lot of resources. Nothing obvious is showing up. I've made sure to turn off a lot of apps at start up that were unnecessary.

I've also turned off sys.main. Before that, everything was even slower and more annoying than what I have already described. Two other annoying things I've discovered. Microsoft turned off Malwarebytes and turned on Defender anti-virus without my permission. It also turned on Edge. None of these things should have been activated without asking my permission. The update should keep every app the way it was either turned on or off.

24H2 has changed something in my computer that affects all activity and load times. It is not hardware related.

I have a fairly fast cpu, ram and SSD disk access speed. This is a gaming computer. It worked fast before the update. I've made a few adjustments to speed things up but those were not necessary before 24H2.

I do enjoy reading the replies...they will never just admit that their software is ****. Which is the reason for issues 90% of the time

Sad thing is that they have already seem to move on to "work" on another update, I dont see this one being fixed ever. I had to go out of my way, use 3 different ways to stop this update from installing because it nearly bricks my PC and most certainly it is making it unusable... Its not that it looses some frames in game or software starts 2 seconds slower (which shouldnt happen anyways). No - in my case this update means I have to wait about 20 SECONDS for system to react to mouse click... Thanks God it was possible to roll back because I would be screwed. Of course after roll back everything is snappy as it always was... I dont understand how they pushed such a broken mess out of the doors. Its classic example of "dont fix what isn't broken". Before Win11 I have never used any 3rd party software to mess with system. I didnt needed it, everything was there, inside of the system itself. Now I have 3 different 3rd party programs running to fix something that should be already in system settings... Using Windows with every new update feels more and more like uphill battle. When new update comes all it does is just adding problems to fix and block. I am just staying on 23H2 as long as humanly possible. Fed up with all that constant unnecessary hassle.

The issues seem to be only on certain devices. Recently I have updated to Windows 11, this Sunday to be exact. My performance in games is actually better and the fps is really good. Maybe it is because my system is High End or maybe just got lucky. I dunno what’s going on with Microsoft but something.

For y’all who are having the issue still, my best regards are left with you.

I too have the problem with a PC running slow after the 2 24H2 updates that where 2 days apart. The PC was fine until then. It also started to ask for a network password when I tried to run my main application over the network. In task manager the PC is not busy or low on recourses. Everything you do is slow.

Lenovo Vantage didn't find any driver updates and also run their utility to clean the PC. Almost not usable at this point. Out of all the options you list what would be the best course of action, or all of them. I saw a video about bitlocker and turning it off. This PC is a slave on a network, Intel I5 Win 10 Pro updated to 11 Pro. I need the PC up and running and can't have it down.
