    1. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the app, then select "Settings" and tap "Backup accounts". Follow the prompts to restore the accounts from the cloud backup.

S24 to S25 Android phone upgrade. Backup accounts is not an option. The MS Authenticator app only has cloud backup and when I turn it on, on the new device, it creates a new back up. There is NO option to restore from my MS account on my new device or transfer from one device to another. WHY???

This stuff just gets overly complicated, no wonder nobody in our organization wants to use it.

    2. Downloaded microsoft authenticator app on new phone
    3. clicked restore from back up
    4. signed in with MS account (hotmail) linked to my authenticator
    5. Sign in verification was sent to old phone
    6. I verified it
    7. Message pops up on authenticator app on new phone phone that backup is being recovered

Here is how to do this. Do not login to the Authenticator app on the new device yet. Do the following as needed.

How to Sign Out from Microsoft Authenticator

    1. Important Note: Before recovering your accounts, make sure to sign out to save your account details.
    2. Steps to Remove an Account: Open the Microsoft Authenticator app. Select the account you want to remove. Tap the Settings (gear) icon. Choose Remove account.
    3. Reminder: After removing the account, your device will no longer work for verifying sign-ins.

This is below the sign in on the app...

On your mobile device, open Authenticator, and select Restore from backup. Sign in to your recovery account using the personal Microsoft account you used during the backup process. Your account credentials will be recovered to the new device.

I have a very similar question to Abdul - and rather than create a new thread it seems sensible to ask it here.

My "old" smartphone is an Apple iPhone Xr... and I've just purchased a new Samsung Galaxy S25.

I have opened the Authenticator App under iOS and I have ensured that "iCloud Backup" is enabled. I can see in the application, if I select "Details" that a backup was taken... but when I go to my iCloud account via the web interface I can't see any evidence of this being the case - there is no file created that suggests the backup has occurred.

Even more of a challenge, according to this page, it is not possible to transfer Authenticator credentials between platforms... Is this still correct? I can't imagine that I am unique in wanting to make the switch between mobile platforms, so I can't imagine that I'm the first person to ask why Microsoft would not have developed functionality to support this? So my first question is to ask whether or not this is still correct.

The second question to ask is: working on the assumption that this is not possible and that I have no choice but to set up from scratch, do you have a document that outlines the process to be followed? Is it the case that I am going to have to go to each of the services I currently have configured in to Microsoft Authenticator, get my credentials removed and re-create them from scratch? This seems laborious and not remotely user-friendly.

Confirmation of this and clarification of the best/appropriate steps to migrate by hand would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Clive
