audio sound will coming very less, and microphone is also not working properly when am giving to interviews like teams call system will not take my inner voice so could you rectify us
audio too low at max volume
I was watching a movie on the streaming site Kanopy which I've used before. with the volume set as high as possibl it was barely audible. I changed browsers and it was somewhat better in Edge but i had to set it to the max and not that great. Chrome is completely up to date. All drivers are up to date.
Is there a setting for me to look at in Windows 10. i don't have this problem with any other audio content, inclucing youtube, prime video etc.
Ideas? Thank you

2025-01-01T15:05:01+00:00 Hello, paulaE.
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
Thank you for your feedback. I understand that you are having volume issues while watching a movie and although the system and drivers are up-to-date, the problem persists. Here are some troubleshooting options:
- Check Windows volume settings
Check the master volume control:
Click the volume icon in the system tray and make sure the master volume is maxed out.
Check the system volume mixer:
Right-click the volume icon and select “Open Volume Mixer”.
Make sure the volume settings of all playback devices and browsers are maximized.
- Check Application Volume Controls
In some cases, there are separate volume controls within specific apps (such as browsers) that may need to be adjusted individually.
Chrome and Edge volume settings:
Open the browser tab where the video is playing, then click on the volume icon or volume slider on the page to make sure the volume is set to maximum.
- Check Audio Enhancement Settings
Sometimes audio enhancement settings may affect the system volume.
Audio Enhancement Settings:
Search for and open “Control Panel” in the taskbar.
Select “Hardware and Sound” -> “Sound”.
In the “Playback” tab, right-click on your default playback device (usually speakers or headphones) and select “Properties”.
Go to the “Enhancements” tab and check “Disable all sound effects”.
Confirm and apply the settings.
- Update or reinstall audio drivers
Although you said the driver has been updated, reinstalling the driver may solve some hidden problems.
Uninstall and reinstall the audio driver:
Open Device Manager (Win + X -> select “Device Manager”).
Expand “Sound, Video and Game Controllers”.
Find an audio device (e.g. “Realtek High Definition Audio”), right-click on it and select “Uninstall Device”.
Check the “Remove driver software for this device” option and click “Uninstall”.
Restart your computer and Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
- Adjust media player settings
If the volume is low when playing a particular video, it may be a problem with the video file or the player settings.
Try another player:
Download (if downloading is allowed) or relay the video on Kanopy to a local player, try playing it using VLC, Windows Media Player or another third-party player.
- Use external software to enhance the volume
Install volume enhancement software:
There are some third-party software that can be used to enhance the system volume, such as EarTrumpet or Letasoft Sound Booster. these software can help boost the overall system volume.
- Check and adjust power settings
Sometimes the power plan may affect the system volume.
Power Settings:
Open “Control Panel” -> “Hardware and Sound” -> “Power Options”.
Select “High Performance” power plan, or click “Change Plan Settings” -> “Change Advanced Power Settings” to make sure all audio-related settings in the power settings have been adjusted to optimal performance. Ensure that all audio-related settings in the power settings are adjusted for optimal performance.
I look forward to your feedback.
Happy holidays and happy new year!!

I attached a screeenshot of Sound.. Was it never configured? I have never touched the sound settings from when I got the laptop. While we're addressing my sound , I wrote a long time ago that my little over the head old style headset (the kind people used with walkmans) doesn't work at all. and they work on every other device i have, my android phone and an mp3 player. do they not work here because this isn't configured? If i plug them in, nothing comes out. Since it is exactly ONE movie that I can't hear well and my volume can go to a very loud level, couldn't it be the movie sound that is the problem Thanks
