Halo Combat Evolved / Custom Edition Don't Run (Old Software)

I recently installed an old software on my PC running Windows 11 Home 24H2 (26100.3323): Halo: Combat Evolved for PC (released on May 5, 2004). The issue is quite strange and has never happened to me before, I can't play or even open the game.

When I try to launch it, a message appears: "Please login with administrator privileges."

To fix this, I set the game to "Run as administrator" in its properties under Compatibility. I also went to Security, selected my account, clicked Edit, and checked all permission boxes.

Now, the error message no longer appears, but the game still doesn't run, nothing happens.

I installed the game as an administrator and restarted my PC, but the issue persists.

I have the same issue with Halo Custom Edition. I followed the same steps: Installing, setting compatibility and security options, but the games still don't run.

Hello! Thank you for reply to me.

    Answers:

    1. Yes, only one user and administrator.
    2. Yes, I played those games before in the same computer.
    3. I'm not using any Launcher for these games, only the Shortcut to the main game folder without any modifications.

My computer is already up to date, everything, the BIOS, OS, Graphic Driver, DirectX, Visual C++ and the Windows apps.

I did the steps you give me, but the problem still there.

    My Specs

    Intel Core i5-1135G7 2.40Ghz

Intel Iris Xe Graphics 32.0.101.6651 (WHQL Certified)

    8192MB RAM DDR4

    238GB SSD NVMe

    Thanks for your feedback!

From what I've seen, Halo Combat Evolved has a patch to make it work properly on modern systems. Have you tried installing a patch?

It's important to check with the store you bought the game from or the CD to see if there's a patch available for download.

You can check out more information about the game and the patch on PCGamingWiki.

    Hello!

Since the game is old, it may require features that your operating system may not have installed or may have discontinued.

    1. Do you have only one user account on your computer?
    2. Have you played these games before on this same computer?
    3. What launcher are you using to run the game?

Make sure your Windows is up to date, install DirectX and Visual C++, which are important for some games to work.

    1. Download and Install DirectX.

    1. Download and Install Visual C++.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/l...

    • In Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version, download x86 and x64.
    1. Press WINDOWS + R > Type "appwiz.cpl" (without quotes) > Press ENTER > Turn Windows features on or off > Check the "Legacy Components" option
    2. Open System Configuration > Click ''Windows Update'' > ''Check for updates''.
    3. Download all available updates. Click ''Advanced Options'' > ''Optional Updates'' > Select all available drivers and updates > Click ''Download and Install''.
    4. Search the taskbar for Microsoft Store and open the store > Click ''Library'' > ''Get Updates'' > Update all apps.
    5. Restart your computer when finished.
