Hi Adam, I'm also running Windows11 on that HP ProBook 4740s with Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn-Adapter. Configure the device and try to use "previous driver". This is how I got my adapter work with Windows 11.
RT3290 wifi adapter for windows 11
I just installed Windows 11. And my laptop builtin wifi adapter is not being recognized by windows.
Laptop is HP product name: 15-N222NR.
The adapter for wifi is Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn.
I restarted the laptop multiple times. I went to HP official site but couldn't find the driver for my laptop. It looked like they discontinued the support for my laptop.
- I tried network reset method, that did not work
- I tried services wWAN Auto Config properties to Automatic and that did not work
- I tried to download the driver from HP website but I can't find the driver for win 11. And it looks like HP is not supporting my laptop.
Does anyone know how to get this built-in wifi adapter to work with win 11?

I checked the hardware specifications for your laptop, your laptop hardware is from 2013, it is not Windows 11 compatible, and that is causing the problem, it will not be possible to get that Ralink WiFi driver for Windows 11, I think the best option is to install Windows 10 on that laptop and then the drivers should work correctly on your laptop, the only other option may be to purchase a new network card for your laptop and install that.
