It’s frustrating when Windows Security starts blocking drivers that were working fine before. You might want to check if there’s an updated driver from the manufacturer or try rolling back to a previous version in Device Manager. Sometimes, adding the driver as an exclusion in Windows Security can also help. Hopefully, Microsoft addresses this issue soon.

I recently ran into a similar issue while browsing this website's https://sonicdrivenmenus.com/ and things just stop working for no reason!

    Hello,BStreet3

Thank you for your patience in replying, I would like to ask you to check if there are stricter security settings set in Windows Security Center? For example, do you have Kernel Isolation turned on in the Device Security option of the Windows Security Center, and if so, please turn it off.

I will keep an eye on your issue and look forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,

The WUDF was not located. I ran the second script with the following results.

    Error: 0x800f080c

    Feature name WUDFHost is unknown.

Windows 10/11 already include some support for PIV. Plug in your smart card reader, and Windows should automatically detect and install a generic driver.

If it is not working then Open PowerShell as an administrator by clicking Win + S - search for PowerShell - Right click on it and click on Run as administrator .

    Run below commands

    dism /online /get-features /format:table

Look for WUDF in the list. If it is missing, then run below command

    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WUDFHost

Restart your PC and check if the smart card reader functions after enabling WUDF.

If it continues to block the driver and it is downloaded from trusted website then you can add them in exclusions.

Press win + S then search for Windows Security , Open it and Click on Virus & Threat Protection - Scroll down and click on Manage Settings , Scroll down and click on Add or remove exclusions then click on Add and exclusion and select the file by navigating to the driver installation file location.

Now try installing the driver again
