Thanks for the detailed info, Kiyoshi. Since Revo didn’t help and the service isn’t running, here are a few deeper steps you can try to fully remove PACE License Support and bypass the Error 1628 (Failed to Complete Installation).
- Run the Installer/Uninstaller as Admin in Safe Mode
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab, check Safe boot, and select Minimal.
- Click OK and restart your PC.
- In Safe Mode, try uninstalling PACE License Support again via Control Panel or its uninstaller.
- Afterward, open msconfig again and uncheck Safe Boot to return to normal mode.
- Microsoft has a tool specifically for fixing broken installs/uninstalls (Microsoft Install/Uninstall Troubleshooter Tool):
- Download it from here:
https://support.microsoft.com/help/17588
- Run it and select Uninstalling.
- Choose “PACE License Support” from the list (if present), or let it detect leftovers.
- If nothing else works, you can manually Clean Registry and Leftover Files:
Registry:
- Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
- Backup the registry: File > Export.
- Search for:
PACE
Interlok
LicenseSupport
Delete related keys only if you’re sure they belong to PACE. (You might see references under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE or Wow6432Node.)
Files & Folders:
- Check and delete any of these (if they exist):
C:\Program Files (x86)\PACE
C:\Program Files\PACE
C:\ProgramData\PACE
- Check for a PACE Installer
Some software (like iLok/PACE) can only be uninstalled via their own installer. If you still have the original Zynaptiq or iLok/PACE installer .exe, try running it again—it may give the option to remove or repair the installation.
You can also get the latest PACE License Support installer here:
https://www.ilok.com/#!license-manager
Then run it and see if it gives you an uninstall option or repairs the install to make uninstalling possible.
