SrtTrail.txt error

Anonymous
2025-03-23T01:46:42+00:00

Full error reads: "D:\WINDOWS\System32\logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt"

Sadly I have no restore points

Things I've tried:

  1. Chkdks /f /t D: - doesn't find anything
  2. cd \windows\system32\config

md backup5

copy *.* backup

cd regback

copy *.* ..

exit - doesn't do anything

  1. Attempt to get into the safe mode sends me to blue screen
  2. sfc /scannow /offbootdir=D:\ /offwindir=D:\Windows - "windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation"
  3. D:

cd D:/

cd windows

cd system32

cd config

md backup

copy *.* backup (It has 11 files - includes userdiff)

md backup1

copy *.* backup1 (again 1q including userdiff)

cd regback

dir

copy *.* ..

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot - "access denied" error

When accessing diskpart -> list volume I get

Volume 1 - C - DATA - NTFS -par-931Gb-heal

Volume 2 - D - Windows - NTFS-par-237Gb-heal

Volume 3 - E - - NTFS -par-529Mb-heal

Volume 4 - - SYSTEM - FAT32-par-450Mb-heal

Can the reason behind the "access denied" error for "bootrec fixboot" be problem with accessing one of the listed volumes? And if so how can I fix it?

If there is nothing that I can do from the console level what should I do?

Hi, thank you for replying, and yes, kindly proceed with repairing using the Command prompt.

If all fails, I suggest running a custom installation to fix the issue, however, the process will delete all apps but will retain all files on the PC, if you are okay with that, you may follow the steps provided below:

Since you have already created bootable USB media, kindly follow the steps from number 3 to last from this link:

    Hi,

Thank you for your help and sorry for replying just now but I had to buy a flash drive (and shops are closed on Sunday where I live).

I tried to use the startup repair option (after booting through the flash drive) but got a message that it was unable to repair the problem.

Should I proceed with repair through command console (as per instructions in the guide from the link you shared)?

Below is the link for the SrtTrail.txt file I downloaded following instructions from the second reply (from the questions_ profile)

    https://limewire.com/d/wERkT#oKVE7UY3ip

Unfortunately it's in polish but I hope it will shed some light as to the nature of the problem.

Please boot to a Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (MCT) (Windows iso) > Windows Recovery Environment (RE) > command prompt > notepad

Search for WINDOWS\System32\logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt > save to a flash drive > post a share link

Hi, thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today, my timezone is UTC +8.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to assist, this error occurs due to corrupted system files, in this case, we need to use Windows installation media in USB to repair the issue, to do that kindly follow the steps below:

Note: We need another PC and a USB drive (At least 8GB and make sure there are no files inside as it will reformat the USB) once you have that kindly follow the steps:

Step 1: Create Windows 10 installation Media

    Go to this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Scroll down and click "Download Tool Now" then run the Media creation tool (the downloaded file)

If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.

On What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC and then select Next.

Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.

This table will help you decide which edition of Windows 10 you’ll choose:

On Select which media, you want to use click USB and save it to your USB drive.

Once done, do the repair kindly follow the steps below:

Insert the USB into the affected PC

Start the PC and if you see “Press any key to boot from DVD,” do so. If you don’t see the message, you might need to change the boot order in your computer's BIOS settings so that it first starts from the DVD or USB.

When you see the Install Windows page, tap or click Repair your computer to start the Windows Recovery Environment.

In the Windows Recovery Environment, on the Choose an option screen, tap or click Troubleshoot.

Tap or click, advanced options and then click on Startup repair.

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.
